Arizona Question

Have just retired here in Florida ( 28 years here) and thinking about relocating to Goodyear or Peoria area when my build is done. Any pros / cons about Arizona lifestyle? And yea...I am used to high summer heat with high humidity...lol.

It's a dry heat here... except June, July, August and September when the humidity goes up!
In Goodyear, you're close to Phoenix International Raceway but they took out the road course leaving it a bowl, so there's no reason to go there anymore!
Tucson has better Mexican food than Phoenix!

Great plan ...... Arizona that is, plenty of things to do all year and great people too.
I live in beautiful Lake Havasu City (located on the western border on the Colorado River).
Havasu is the "hot rod capital if the USA, more hot cars than most cities including Cobras".
We have 5 great car clubs to choose from, boating, stock car track and a steady population of 50,000 and more when the winter visitor come.
Anyway check it out, been here 14 years and still love it.

I just move to Peoria from Florida (Boca - Boynton area) last year - I grew up in FL (Tampa) and think of it as home but my wife has most of her friends here - so happy wife ...

We have lived here in the area before - in Mesa - for about 10 years - so we had a good idea of the trade-offs

Good luck on your move - let me know if you have any questions

The good things about Arizona include no sinkholes, no boas or pythons, no komodo dragons, no alligators, no hurricanes, no nutria, no sharks, no jellyfish, plenty of open roads, lots of places to go to get out of the heat, snow when you want to visit it desert when you don't. Just the few I could think of.

Alfy, I spent the first 30 years of my life in Ohio. After escaping that purgatory I've been in AZ since '78 and have no urge to live anywhere else. One real benefit of living here, that no one has mentioned, is that you never have to worry about getting a stiff neck because you'll give it plenty of exercise, shaking you head at the stoooopid things our elected officials do and say.
Come on down, bring lotsa money.

Alfy. Are you a short, brown, hairy, alien comedian? Goodyear & Peoria are both suburbs of Phoenix. Little cheaper priced homes in Goodyear but you may be farther out. Peoria has lots of shopping and a broad range of dwellings. In Tucson you have to learn Spanish.
Humid here is 29%. We call it "Monsoon." Last from mid June until end of Sept. Rest of year is great.

Thanks guys, relocating is something that we are thinking about doing in the coming year. Cost of living is getting pretty high here ( home ownership) We have not had a hurricane hit here on the west coast in years, but the insurance keeps going up and near the coast like we are traps us in a state run program...which our idiot governor is trying to get rid of...no other companies offer insurance at this time. But traffic and density of people is at an all time high. Just looking at options and the best place to ask is other Cobra folks..pretty straight answers are here. Thanks again and I may ask some more questions..Almost 40 years in Chicago and 28 years here..time to try something different...lol

One thing that was not mentioned is this. The Arizona Cobra club is full of misfits. Do not know why I left.

If you are retired and want the desert you might also consider southern nevada. We lived in Phoenix in the 70s and had considered a return to AZ but liked that nv has no state income tax. Houses are still pretty cheap. We got ours for about 100/so and al l we had to do was paint carpet and pool with spa

Good luck

Love the SW...Vegas 66-82...Tucson 84-10...now Peoria. It's all about the
weather for us car guys. No state taxes on SS either. Gotta have GOOD ac
and a concrete pond in the back yard.

%/only things missing out here in phoenix V Indianapolis and Cincinnati are the trees turning colors in the fall; real football and basketball [ND, Purdue, Michigan State, Louisville, Butler]. Suns use to be fun to watch and so so now; Cardinals are trying to be exciting. This year the local colleges are playing above their heads and fun to watch.

When something happens at Palo Verde and the wind blows east ...watch out!
