Halon system?
Anyone running a fire suppression system?
I need some guidance on a good system to install.

Halon works by excluding oxygen how does the driver get on with no oxygen

Halon can also damage.the moving parts if.ingested into the motor. Better.to.keep.a.co2.bottle.handy

Halon also works poorly in an open cockpit/engine compartment design like the Cobra.
I suggest a system like Coldfire
Having seen it in action at WGI many years ago, I've installed them in all of my race cars.

I agree with Bill. Halon systems do little to cool the fire and the fire often reignites as soon as the halon disperses. I have gone through several halon extinguishers only to have the fire reignite until I used water. The cold fire system will suppress the fire long enough for help to arrive. |

My last Cobra had a system and it was nice knowing if a fire started under the hood all I had to do was flip a switch. |

I had a foam system in my GT40. I will have the same system in my Radster

If these are so important, why are they not in your daily drivers? You spend almost 98% of your driving time in the daily car.
I understand they are required in a race car, most of us do not race them.

Gasp! I agree with Mikec. Just make sure your insurance is paid up to date and is sufficient coverage.

Your bottle is not big enough to feed 6 nozzles. It is also using a dry agent that only works by eliminating the oxygen from the fire. Take a really close look at your engine bay and open cockpit. You will then see why your system is inadequate. If you do not, let us know so we can explain how much air is located within those areas vs the contents of your fire bottle.

Mike,
A lot can happen with these individually hand built cars that would not normally happen with a production vehicle. An old adage comes to mind for me at least: "better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it". In my case, and my additional mindset, I only have one life, I'll do my best to protect it any way I can. Having a properly set up and installed fire suppression system in my car(s) allows me enough time to stop the car and get out safely. If my liquid/foam system puts out the fire, even better, if not, at least I am not the one burning up along with the car.
