The director asked if we could gather at like 8am for the "kick-off, lighting the tree ceremony" being covered by Channel 12 on Saturday, December 13th. My response was simply "weather permitting." No one likes early, specially on Saturday but everyone wants to help. I'm proud of you guys. I told her we may have a big turnout.
I'm ready. http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...ps97249e57.jpg Got a whole $1 invested now. Can't miss it. These hats are $1 at all Dollar type stores. I got mine from Dollar Tree. AZ Bob |
What?
You didn't get the officially licensed one for forty bucks? Santa will be pissed. %/ |
We're in.. weather permitting..
|
I'm sorry I will miss it. I'll be there in spirit. This is a great thing.

guys, the red cobra will have gone to live in LA by then, but will have been replaced by a red viper. Any chance a red viper would be allowed in the group?
|
Yes, but you must drive at the back of the pack. LOL
|
Of course Pete, you are always welcome.

A viper.. next thing you know, we'll have Chevy powered Cobras and Chevettes wanting to ride along..

The person at PCH I am working with is Kim Pritchard in Human Resources. The manager of the Toy Drive is Denise Wittstock.
Kim says they really need items for infants and teens. Child Life Wish List: Child Life Wish List | Phoenix Children's Hospital Kim is working with Denise to arrange Channel 12 coverage. That would require participation on Saturday December 13th, time will either be early morning or early evening. Planning details still underway Kim also says “It will be a fun day, aligned with our Ignite Hope event in which they light the Christmas tree in our circular driveway. There is an Admin parking lot next to it, where we could park the Cobras, if you wanted to stay.” Here is a Google Map View. The Circle Drive is upper left partially in shadow. https://www.google.com/maps/@33.4798.../data=!3m1!1e3 AZ Bob |
More on Donations
A special request from Kim & Denise:
“PCH also needs Red Wagons, which parents use to help children get around our big hospital. Not sure if the guys may also be interested in wagon donation. If so, the one wagon that meets specifications and outlasts the rest is Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon, available at WalMart“: Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon - Walmart.com But it is $80. Might want to combine donations for this one. Here is a photo: http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/b...psdb75fc77.jpg AZ Bob |
If You Would Like a Donation Receipt

Let me start filling the jar with a 20 dollar bill. I already have other gifts purchased but saved the entrance fee to Good Guys thanks to Bill so will pay it forward.
Who feels like kicking in a few bucks to help buy the KIDS a wagon? PLEASE! |
Adriana and I will donate for wagons. Seems we should be able to put two or three of these if we all donate what we would pay for a half a tank of gas.
|
I will add to the wagon pot - I like the half a tank of gas - for me that is $25 -

Saw that Toys R Us also has them for $80, and they are not Walmart. Checked eBay and Amazon and no body beats the price.
Whose gonna collect the $$$ and pick up the wagons? Do it at the Anniversary party? Wouldn't be surprised that if we're buying several, Toys, or maybe even Wallyworld might give a discount if the cause was mentioned when buying them.... |

I think we need to collect the money, buy the wagons and, if need be, arrange a time to meet and put them together. Who wants to buy them? We can meet at my office if you want to put them together, if they aren't built already. (1776 E Glendale Ave, Phx). I'll be taking a load of toys down later in the week in my daughter's truck, so if we can't load some things in the Cobras, I can still get them to PCH. Thanks to all of you for doing this! It looks like it will be a very fun and successful event. Especially if we get all the cars on the news!
|
Do y'all think it best to collect the money at the Christmas party so other folks, that don't watch CC can contribute, if they want?
|
Karl
I like the idea of collecting at the Christmas party - it is easy - good idea jim |
That sounds great. The link on Bob's post described assembly time as 20 Min. for each wagon. So it is either wham bam or an hour to decipher the drawings. LOL
