Count me in for sure for the race day at Bondurant. Hope to make the picnic as well. On another topic, I have had Avins on my car for 5 years now. Obviously not much mileage but any opinions on age of the tire. No visible cracks in sidewall and obviously garaged, but curious to see what others experiences have been
Thanks
Ron

Hey Ron, U ain't dead? Glad to see it.

What Bondurant race day are you referring to?

You'll get much better response about your tire question if you just start a new thread with your question in the title.

Ratti Dan, Its just amazing how well this car goes around corners! Like it was made for it. Lemme go take a look at the picnic areas ar Canyon Lake. Had not given it a thought. Would make for a nice drive. Too bad there's not a little more pavement going up to Apache Lake, that would be sweet!
Keep watching and I'll be announcing the location of the 2015 picnic after I figgr out a location.

Not quite dead yet, just not old enough to enjoy retirement. The last 6 months I have been grinding at work and acquired one of our competitors doubling the size of my company overnight which hasn't left much time for fun.

I thought I saw on the first of the thread pro autosports has an event listed in late April at firebird/ Bondurant. Getting out on the track last year at his 80th birthday was the just about the most fun you can have with your clothes on:) even if I was slow as can be around the track it was a blast!!

Canyon Lake. Count us out. Not driving that piece of crap road.

DWRAT 12-23-2014 10:27 AM

What's wrong with it, is it under construction now?

Fast289 12-23-2014 11:04 AM

Ron, just FYI, racing at Bounderant that weekend is the West Track, not the main track where the party for Bob was held. It's still fun, but don't be surprised when you get to the track.

West track is fun, technical and safe. Almost nothing to hit. I spun out twice there and never even went "agricultural driving" like Karl. Short straight sharp turn 1. Big carossel to test tire adhesion. Good, fun, safe track. That's the track I learned on back when car was new.

Dan
Road is FULL of potholes. Not taking the cobra up that road till they fix it.
Beat the crap out of the car.

Got it, it's been a couple years since I have been there.

It was such a nice day, today, that my visiting grand daughter and I took the Cobra up to Tortilla Flats for a look see. The road is still plenty rough. Had us bouncing through some of the tight turns. The main picnic area at the lake is very nice and has quite a few ramadas, within an easy walk to the wizzers. The parking, however is not as close to the tables as most of us would probably like. Between the road surface and the parking, Canyon Lake is out of the running. Was and real nice day for a ride, Mikiec.

Usta have: NAF, 496 CHEVY, Totaled 09/13/14, gone to that big scrap yard in the sky.

Thought some dreamer bought it and took it to NV.

mikiec 12-23-2014 07:42 PM

I looked at Canyon lake a few years back. I figured it would not work, as you found out, the parking is a ways away.

We have not heard if Dan is bring steaks for everyone?

The way DanR asked the question, ".. Do you really want me to, Scotty? If I bring them will you eat them?", me thinks it may not be beef steaks he is intending to bring!

Of course, Dan, observant is my middle name. I used to be a dick, I mean an undercover detective for Burns Detective Agency, back in the early 70's.
