Hurricane almost ready to play

250 miles on the car after a very long 9+ year build. Looking forward to meeting up with everyone someday soon. Would really like to replace the BFG's but so far no problems. MT ST's in my shopping cart. AZ reg and insurance both very easy so now it's time for a little fun. A bit about this thing. It's one of the first Hurricanes and has a Keith Craft 427 Dart small block. TKO 600 .64 and 370 gear. Everything seems perfect so far. 3 times more HP then it needs so that's perfect also. Jeff Miller did the paint and it is really nice. Seems like a few cars pretty close, I'm at 59th ave. and Sweetwater, I'll see if I can post a few pics, Dan Attachment 24793

Looks Great!!!!
I personally would look at the SR's instead on the ST's. The ST's are very similar to your current BFG's.

Tucson Larry..

When is yours going to done.

Karl Bebout 12-13-2014 08:08 PM

Dan, Sprint6, beautiful car. You should plan on joining us for our New Year's Day run. It'll be a good chance to put some miles on the car and stretch its legs. There's talk of a different destination than Yarnell Hill this year that should be a good time and somewhat warmer. Welcome to the madness and beware of people with blue/w/white or Orange cobras.

I haven't clinched the oldest 'unfinished Hurricane' spot yet Mike but I should soon! Sprints car is older than mine but his is almost done. THEN I'll get mine finished!

Diner

I probably should do a Tuesday Diner run seems how my wife has worked there since they opened it. Looking forward to a road trip with the group just not sure when. I've been kickin this tire thing around for a long time, so limited on sizes and really like the fit on the car now. Also thought about a 17" set and doing a trip to the road course. Well one thing at a time. Dan

mikiec 12-14-2014 07:29 AM

Hey, Dan.

Which one of the terrific ladies is yours?

Mike

Danr55 12-14-2014 10:09 AM

Beuatiful car Dan...and don't pay any attention to Karl. He's just upset because his current car is a solid, normal color.

Mike, She's the curly brown haired Carol that usually works mornings. She said she's talked to a few guys in the group, no names just descriptions (which I can save for later). No mention of any trouble makers in the bunch. Dan

YerDugliness 12-14-2014 11:17 AM

I have long been a fan of Hurricane's products, and yours looks particularly well done!

Congratulations!

Dugly

It is hard to single out troublemakers when they all are. :D

Dan, she looks beautiful!
Please post more pics. I see some nice custom touches. The taillights look different. Are those custom? And I like your seats. Are those from Hurricane?

bwcobra15 12-15-2014 11:16 AM

Very nice! Love the steering wheel, and the passenger's "Oh My God!" handle on the dash.

Gofastoldguy 01-01-2015 09:40 PM

Dan...super car. What color is the ghost stripe? I you like sprints/midgets you must know Bob Ream off Sweetwater and 67th? Come to join us next Tuesday, Jan 6th or this Sunday for our annual New Years run (see posting on this site). Look forward to meet you. Nice car show coming up in Scottsdale on Jan 15th also.

Danr55 01-02-2015 09:39 AM

They are so pretty when they are new.. before all of the road rash makes them look particularly mean..

Road trip

I am really looking forward to the first road trip with this thing. I have just a few road rash prevention things to do. I've got some abs to line the upper wheel wells for the star cracks and finish up with 3m paint defender on the nose.

Fastoldguy, Yes I know Ream Sr and did a lot of Sprint car races with Jr. Sold the Sprint cars and Midget and started this new project.

Matt, If I recall Hurricanes had flat bottom seat cushions and the padded ones like mine. I got these when I ordered sliders for both seats. The tail lights are Chevy from Speedway, they fit the body pads a lot better and the quick jack body mounts are chrome Acura valve cover grommets. I tig welded a quick release extinguisher mount that I really like. Some of the things I did are so far from original, but 2 things I remember hearing are it's your car and the toss the word budget out the window.
Oh, and the ones that said carpeting is a real PITA are 100% correct but the end result is well worth it.
I'll post a few more pics, (still to big) maybe not every ones taste but I like it.

Dugley, I thought you had a Hurricane?

James Stern 01-02-2015 02:32 PM

That is 1 beautiful Cobra. Well done
