Storage ???
Do to recent medical issues I have decided to store my cobra in the trailer offsite.
Any recommendations on storage along Main Street in Mesa to Apache Junction? I am looking to store it for the months of Jan. Feb. and March. I must have it off our lot by Dec 31. Lee |
Red MOuntain Storage on McDowell just west of Recker. There is always someone on site and they are monitored 24-7

"A " Secure on Power between University and Adobe on the west side of Power, Just north of Main. They have covered and uncovered spots. I stored a boat there for 6 years. Nice and secure and full time on site security lives there above the office.

Lee,
My name is Bill and I am a member of Arizona Cobras. I just don't participate with the club. It's time to pay forward. I will store your FFR and trailer (as long as it isn't a stacker or over 26 feet in length) for the time that you need it stored in my garage out of the winter elements. The garage is always locked and it is always alarmed to protect my Cobra. I will not charge you anything. The bad part is I live far out west, west of Luke AFB in Waddell, Arizona off the 303 Loop. |
Wow Slither! Nice gesture to another member in need! Just very cool indeed!:3DSMILE:
Lee: you might want to notify your insurance company where you plan to store the car. Some of them like to know.;) |
That is a nice gesture Slither.
Lee if you want you can store it at my place but it will be outside but out of site. You can park it next to Dan's and my trailer. Right down the street from you. |
To all who replied, I say thank you for the input.
Bill thanks for the great offer, but the distance is a just a little too far at this time. Dave I will take you up on your offer. Thanks. It is an all aluminum 18 foot trailer with a Serpent Express topper. Early this week I will have my granddaughter here to finish the tie downs and then it is ready to go. So most any day or time will work for us after Monday. Dave I will PM my contact information and we can go from there. Again thanks to all who replied and offered help. By the way, the recovery is going well, but a long way to go. Lee |
Slither Bill,
Glad to see you are still kickin and have your car. I saw it several years ago at a little get together at some defunct SPF (I think) dealer. Still remember being struck with its detail and quality. Hows come you don't hang with the motley crew and come out on some of our drives? |
Hey Karl, Bill Griffin is an old timer like me. He stopped by at the West Gate car show on Wednesday evening in November. Said hi and invited us to a Shelby track event in Vegas.
Don't know when. AZ Bob |
Karl,
The economy has reached me as well. My engine has a 12 3/4:1 CR and loves to suck down (yes, I said suck) $9 a gallon fuel. I would end up spending $100 just reaching your starting points. Then I would need a gas station that sold race fuel around every corner and I would still need fuel to get home. So it pretty much stays in the garage cleaned and ready to go. It's nearly thirteen years old now with under nineteen hundred miles on it. After the first of the year, it's going to Tom Barnard's shop (Tom's Motorsports) in Vegas for a few things before the 2015 Shelby Bash. Bob, The 2015 Shelby Bash replaces the old SAAC Does Vegas event that we did for years. SAAC and Shelby had their falling out so the event died. Thank goodness someone was smart enough to resurrect the event, but the older members and their original cars, continuation cars, GT 40's and Daytona Coupes stayed home. So that brought out all the Mustangs that were modified by Shelby. And they came out to the point that Shelby had to limit the number of people and cars. The events host hotel has been the South Pointe Hotel and Casino south of where Shelby has moved their Headquarters and re-named it the Shelby Heritage Center or something like that. This year, Shelby is commemorating the combined 50th Anniversaries of the 1965 Shelby GT 350, the 1965 FIA World Sports Car Championship and the 1965 Shelby 427 Cobra. This is our year and time to shine. The hand crafted, kit car, component car is as welcomed as every other vehicle there. These people love to see these cars driven and you guys DRIVE! The event is March 5th through the ninth. A kick-off party will start things off on the 5th at Shelby in Gardena, CA. Then there will be an official run from Gardena to Las Vegas on the 6th followed by a big reception party when you arrive. On the 7th, there will be open track time at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch out in Pahrump and following that, there will be a huge party back at the host hotel. There will be more open track and a Poker Run on the 8th and the 9th there will be a car show and a fantastic pancake breakfast. You don't have to do all of it, You don't have to do the run from Gardena to Vegas either. Some track time, a Poker Run a car show and some pancakes sounds good to me. Shelby state that more information will be coming soon and to check with Team Shelby for the latest news. It really is a fun event! Trust me, you WILL NOT be shunned because you don't drive the real thing! |
Bill, Glad to see you are still alive and jumping, give the missus a hug for me. Guys, Bill is a stand up guy.
Mike |
If you scan Bill's QR code profile image you will get a 10 minute youtube video of Bill driving around the Spring Mountain track.

Bill, 'splains a lot. Maybe you can get some 1/2"thick head gaskets to lower your CR down enough to be able to use pump gas. Or, there's always the good old Dremel to the piston tops trick....Don't know what to tell you, other than new pistons, rebalance, and all that stuff. OUCH! You've got such a sweet car, its too bad you can't get it out on the road and enjoy the seat time.

Wow, what a great video that was.
He put a beat down on every car on the track. That Mustang at the very end must have run super strong to keep from being passed. |
mikiec,
I've been hanging around by doing race car transportation and leaving my car at home. Not so much fun by doing it that way, mikiec, BTW, thanks for the kind words. But the huge toterhome and 40' trailer are gone now so now I need to search for a single car enclosed trailer and a truck. Bob, That video is actually the big track at Willow Springs. The video was taken about 10 years ago when the car was still carbureted. It was on one of the LASAAC and COCOA joint weekends in the spring around Mother's Day. They do it again in the fall near Halloween. Open track running of your car and driver being qualified by experience to run with others. No passing in the corners and only on the back straight or front straight. It is not solely a Shelby event and anything FORD powered is welcome there! That was my first weekend on the track. Notice I stayed back from leading cars? I was just trying to keep the car from being pitted to death, It was a blast and I have done it several times since then. DWRAT, I think that may have been a cool down lap. Speaking of the upcoming Shelby Bash this March in Vegas, I believe Lance Stander and all his Superformance gang will be there running as well. He will be at Barrett-Jackson so we can verify that there. I hope you guys think about going to the Bash because you would be a great addition to a good time. Did I mention there will be alcohol there? Bill/Slither :D |
