This would look great on my wall. Unfortunately I'd have to sell the wall to buy it.

but why does he want it? It's the wrong number...

I've noticed his number changes sometimes.
What's the story Bob? |
"I've noticed his number changes sometimes.
What's the story Bob?" Bob changes a lot of things, just not his underwear. Talk about being downwind? |
Actually I have had the numbers 1, 2, 65 and 98 on the car. The 98 is on with adhesive. The other 16 roundelles I have had all fell off (and melted on the exhaust pipes) since they were static cling. As far as the numbers go, here is the scoop.
Racing with the original 289 cobras #97 was driven by Dave McDonald after starting with #198. Bob Bondurant drove both #97 and #98. #98 was Ken Miles favorite number. #99 was driven by Bob Holbert to begin with. Phil Hill and Dan Gurney drove with #98 later. The numbers changed cars on occasion but the official team used all 3. All this from the book “Shelby Cobra Fifty Years” by Colin Comer. AZ Bob |
That is a great Danny Day picture. I like it!
