For all you guys with spinners on your wheels
I know Bruce Nelson, Karl and Dan Ratti have them.
Here is the source of my new tool: Cobra Valley's Spinner Removal Tool
I have not needed to use it yet but am looking forward to not wearing myself out smacking my spinner wings to loosen them. Still need the lead hammer to tighten and perhaps both to loosen but this is an engineering effort saver.
It's about time for me to order a new lead hammer for about $80 so I figure this tool only cost me about $50.

Looks like an effective tool. I assume it is only used for removal? Probably can't tell how tight you're getting the spinner if you used it to put one on - didn't see any info on that question.

That tool will be a life saver when needed.
I figured I would get one when & if ever needed, now I can barrow it instead hopefully.:D

Here you guys are talking about using bailing wire to keep your cars from falling apart. What's next duct tape?

My wheels are off annually for regular maintenance and I use plenty of anti-seize so I don't run into the "stuck spinner" effect but there have been numerous threads on the subject and some real horror stories. This looks like it might be "the tool to have" or an incentive to befriend someone who does.
Looks like the most well thought out attempt to create a tool that solves the problem I've seen to date.

I believe the tool is only used to get the spinners off, to avoid hitting the rim with the lead hammer or breaking off an ear. Putting the spinners on usually involves hitting them until a sound change can be heard. There is an Olthoff youtube video that explains this. |

Soak with WD- 40 prior to removing and the job is easy.
