Been having some intermittent dying issues with the car. About 2 months ago while heading to Mass the car died on 93. I cranked it a few times no start. I check to see if I had gas at the carb. Squirters had a good spray. Hopped back in and the car started. Drove back home. The next day joined some of the NE members for a jaunt around the lake. Everything was good.

last month it dies again on 93. Sat for 5 minuted, it started up and continued for another trip to Mass.

Last week I was out for a drive and it died 6 miles from the house. waited the 5 minutes. Started up so I went back home. 3 miles later it died again. Got home. Figured either fuel of electrical. Turned on the key and checked the fuel pressure gauge. It was bouncing from 2 to 5 lbs.

Next AM checked and now showing 1 LB. Would not adjust with the regulator. Fuel pump.

Talked to Jeff to verify fuel pump. He suggested rebuilding it. Took it apart found the impeller rusted and cracked. Ordered a new one.

I changed the pump, Holley Blue.. Pressure now adjusts correctly. Set it to 5 lbs. Just for grins, changed the cap, rotor and plugs. They needed it.

Took it out for a quick 15 minute jaunt.
Today I got in 3 hours. No Problem. Reset regulator to 6 lbs.

Seems like sitting over the winter crapped it out. Found out that it is a good idea to use some Marvel before getting it ready for winter hibernation.

Gee Mikie that sounds familiar. Sitting all summer craps me out to... my impellar gets screwed up and rusty and my headlights get really dim.. Gets better when the weather cools off though.. like now..

You are always welcome Mikie. Glad the fix was so easy to find. Wish you and Miss Ginny a good hibernation even if it does seem a little early. LOL

I will drive until the first snow or when the temps go below zero. Last year the first snow was on Thanksgiving day.

Mikiec, you should drive in the snow, then you'd know how the car would feel if it had some HP.

Karl, I felt that last winter.

Been having a similar issue myself Mike. Twice now I've lost power and while I was able to sputter along for quite a while it eventually died. First time I thought I'd run out of gas (fuel ga. hasn't worked for some time. I added @ 4 gallons and it fired right up. Next time it was nearly full and it eventually re-started and made it home but won't run right past 3K. Check the pressure and adjusted the regulator and it was low.

I put in a new tank and FP (in-tank style) maybe 6 years ago and I'm hoping it's not that again. Pulling the filter and checking lines tomorrow morning.

Perhaps the in-tank s-shaped hose has a split in it? Mine blew off!

Don't think so or it wouldn't run at all. I replaced the filter and it was pretty grungy. Seems to be running pretty well now.
