This Coming Year

Here is the plan for 2016 events.
New Year Run, perhaps up the Beeline. Dan Shinn is planning.
I have asked the Tucson folks to put together a Tucson trip for the Spring of 2016 like last year's. I have 5 more complete, multiple stop, trip suggestions if they need some.
I would love for someone to head up a Northern Arizona Trip. Having lived there for a couple of years, there are so many cool places to visit in the Spring or Fall. 5 Trips could easily be put together.
Club picnic is in the hands of Karl Bebout once again. He will release his time and place in the spring.
Route 66 Fun Run: April 29-May 1st. No arrangements have been made yet. Perhaps we can stay in Seligman?
Corronado Trail Trip. Will be scheduled again and lead by Dan Shinn.
Laughlin has ended unless someone wants to pick up the torche.
Anniversary Party will assume to be December 3rd next at place to be determined.

My Days as President are coming to an end.

At 70+ years old, it's time to slow down, to lessen responsibility, to spend more time with spouse, family and grandkids. It's time to become a member like you. I have been with the Arizona Cobras since day 1. Mikie and I named the club and gave speeches at the first meeting in December 2001. I have helped for all 15 years and have attended almost everything. It's time to hang up the title and yield to a younger, more energetic cobra owner. I hope we can find one willing. No one we asked at the Anniversary Party seemed interested. If we do not find someone the club will simply run from event to event. I will still help but, cannot attend all. My health is catching up with me and I have memberships in 3 other clubs, (Wild West Mustangs, Cactus Combat and Front Sight.) My days are full. Never too full for you guys, but full.
It is time for someone to step up. I will step down January 1, 2016.
Thank You for the privilege of helping you enjoy your cars.

BobB,
You've been outstanding! Always providing thorough and timely communications and I'm sure we're all looking forward to your continued participation in any of our activities you can make.
I'll be out of town for the wagon/toy delivery but I'll be back for the January 1st run ( if its not raining or snowing). See you then.

Thank you for all your past efforts!
Merry Christmas to you and yours.

What's wrong with snow?

I would also like to thank Bob B for the past 15 years of work that he has put into AZ Cobras. Although I am a new member (March 2015) I can see the efforts that he has made to bring this club together. President of a club is usually a thankless job, well I think that the membership should step up and say a big Thank You Bob for all that you have done.

What all these old guys said.

Very pleased of the way Bob has stepped up running this gang over the past 2 years.

We do need some young blood to take over. I know how Bob feels it can be a daunting task.

mikiec 12-07-2015 10:38 AM

Let's just say younger members

Thank You Bob for all that you have done! You still are the number one guy for finding out things on the internet, so don't let that go!

Merry Christmas everyone!

We've had some fun over the years. We've enjoyed each other's company and we've fought like family...I know we were all sorry to loose Mike and Ginny.. Ginny because of her beautiful smile and great cookies and Mikie because ???...??? well, Mikie too. We've lost other friends and had lots of new ones come into our little group. So now it's up to us to keep things going. Oh, I remember.. we were sorry to lose Mikie because he always was the instigator..
Who remembers Don and Diana showing up in Laughlin at 9:30 at night after loosing electrical on their new car in the middle of the desert? Don standing Diana out in the wilderness to hold the flashlight and attract any wandering coyotes.
Mikie pulling into the Shell station in Seligman and not being able to start his car.
A bunch headed to Kingman for the Fun Run and not keeping up and getting pulled over by a Chevy pickup..??
The Great Bumper Incident of 2012.
The US 60 castrastrophe of 2010 and Stuart stuck under the wire.
Some of our friends getting so sick they scared us all and now recovered and looking like their old self.
A car being attacked by a road alligator and loosing a windshield half a world from home.
What about the crazy who hit all 48 contiguous states in two weeks in his Cobra..talk about an iron butt!
Friends we've lost....and freinds who have just wandered off.
There have been many more, but these all stick out in my memory....as weak as it has become in my majority.
Thank you to all who have helped make this club what is was and is. The Herschels and Mikies and Keiths, and Bobs (Seems to have been more Bobs than anyone else).

Let's make a few more before more wander away.. Let's start New Years Day with a run. I will post details this weekend.. but save New Years Day.

Vikki and I certainly agree that Bob has always been an instigator! Thanks Bob for carrying the torch after Mikec departure. Dan and Karl also. Young blood is hard to find it seems. Lets all keep putting our two cents in the pot and keep agoin. Gary

There is a generation gap between us who grew up with the sites sounds and smells of auto rack g and the mystique of the Cobra and the kids today who think the NISSAN Gtx.is fast. We need to find a.way to recapture that.mystique. A way to get.the raw.power.of.the car back in prominance.

mikiec 12-09-2015 09:57 AM

If there is no snow on the ground I'll join you for the Jan 1st run on this side of the country.

Mike
