BJ in Scottsdale
If I can make it down to the valley to BJ later this week, what can I expect when I get there? Where to park, cost, etc. Would like to visit with the FFR folks, as they brought the big rig, and test fit into the new gen coupe. Not really interested in the auction, just exhibits and a walk-around.

There are parking lots all around the arena. Traffic directors will point you to the best location. Shuttle buses will take you to the arena. Parking and rides were free and I expect still are.
Write down the lot name! There are so many and they are scattered and not all buses go to all of the lots! It's easy to "lose" your car. There used to be two lots - the lower lacrosse field (which I think required a pass) and the upper parking lot (that fills quickly) but with the new facility those lots may now be restricted. If the upper lot is still open to the public I was always able to find a spot if I got there before 10:00. The later you get there the further you will be. |
Here is the event schedule: https://www.barrett-jackson.com/Even...a-7d93140cba83
This is to entry price schedule: Tickets - Scottsdale 2017 Discount $5 for Senior, Military & Student. Parking is free but you will most likely be parked pretty far away so remember where you parked and take a shuttle. AZ Bob |
If I go, will I get a complementary BJ, or is that reserved for the people that actually buy the cars?

General admission for a day trip isn't a bad deal. GA gets you to all of the cars and the vendor display area. It is a great car show and the exhibits have lots of stuff besides car oriented. I don't remember the guys name but there is a photographer that has some great car shots but also other really great images. If you want to watch the auction your seating is the "nosebleed" section. Bidder access gets you to the floor area and auction block and the rear staging area. The down side of GA is that drinks (beer and water) outside are outrageously priced. The beers inside are free and since the theme of the whole thing is "powered by alcohol" if you want a comfortable place to sit and watch the cars cross the line with a brew, then a bidder pass is a good deal just resist the temptation to raise your hand!

The title of the thread sucked me in as well. Pun intended. |
Cobra Jim and I are going Wednesday. Departing my house at 10 am. Anyone want a ride , be here. We will valet, to avoid slowing us down with the shuttles.

Just got home from B-J. Crowded! $25 entry today even for us old folk. Do not bring your concealed carry weapon or even your normal pocket knife. Whole body scan for everyone at entry. Had to return twice to car for 2 knives. Got there 8am so I fortunately parked close with Disabled tag. Also short line to get my annual free Ford T-Shirt. By the time I left the entry crowds were overwhelming. Early bird gets the worm. Save time and buy your ticket online. Ticket lines were the worst.

Given the present conditions in the USA and my natural aversion to both crowds and spaces where I cannot defend myself if necessary, I will avoid BJ this year....
