Clear skies, sunshine, beautiful day, and just a bit nipply. I was not surprised that nobody showed at the Shea/Beeline Shell station. I had not really expected anyone, since I'd not received any responses, but I went there anyway, incase eMail notified people showed. Oh well. I enjoyed my 200+ mile jaunt. I dressed for the weather and had a good time. Instead of eating at Butcher Hook, I went on to Globe for some good Mexican food at "Guayo's on the Trail". Tasty place. Still got home in time to watch most of the second half of the football game.
Maybe next time...

Sorry I could not join you Karl. Had too much going on last weekend.

Apparently your reserve was met. Does this mean you will attend Cobra functions in a pickup and a horse trailer? Is the new owner in Arizona?

Yes, unfortunately it does.... :JEKYLHYDE but that will only motivate me to get all this "other business" off my plate, and get to work on the next car... **)

Yeah- looks like the car is staying local

Scotchman 01-23-2018 07:14 AM

You did good Roberto !:MECOOL:

Hope you can join us sooner than later.

Karl Bebout 01-23-2018 08:06 AM

RB, I'd say that there might be some of us gonna miss you, but don't want you to feel "SPECIAL" , although you are.

Spend the money wisely and buy another nice car.

Scotchman 01-23-2018 08:18 AM

Karlos,
If you don't have pics of your run, it probably didn't happen. You're probably trying to accumulate miles for the next Iron Butt Award. :JEKYLHYDE:JEKYLHYDE

Karl Bebout 01-23-2018 09:18 AM

No pics. Just drove along, smilin'.

Anybody out there ever heard the story of "Doubting Scotsman"? Well, once upon a time, long long ago, in a galaxie far far away,......... and everyone lived happily ever after.

Me too - One of my other classics that I've been working on for awhile only needs another 40-50 hours of work, and it will be ready to hit the local car shows. (although it's just about as far to the opposite extreme from a Cobra as you can possibly get, except for the big V8 under the hood )

So I'll still be seeing you guys at the cars and coffee shows, etc. And, you can never say "never" when talking about Cobras... So, maybe I'm just "in between" cars right now

Geez Karl- I just sold my car. I'm not dead :JEKYLHYDE

I made a lot of new friends in this group, and one thing I always noticed on our lunch runs: There was always at least one empty passenger seat somewhere in the group, and my hitchhiking thumb works really well :)

(if worse came to worse, I could always kick the case of Windex bottles out of Madsen's passenger seat )

Phx Mike 01-25-2018 07:32 PM

You can catch a ride with me any time Robert.

Next car you need to get is a 66 Fairlane 427. I don't know if that's your kind of hot rod but I always thought it would be cool to have one and since you are car-less....:-).

Just don't get a Corvette like Ratti did....

nniets 01-25-2018 09:41 PM

A real 427 Fairlane costs more than a Cobra. I think I've seen 2 of them in the last 50 years. Sweet car!

The big block Fairlanes are indeed uber-cool, but they are also unfortunately UBER-MEGA-HUGE. Any car that takes 3 minutes to walk from the driver's seat to the passenger's seat is just a little bit large for me.

And vettes? well... unlikely is all I would say. I've owned 4 of those already, and there is only one Corvette model left that I would have any interest in (64-67 hardtop roadster), and it would be a long search to find the right car to use as as a starting point for what I would do to it (because an NCRS concours restoration would be COMPLETELY off the table )

I'd build that sucker Guldstrand-style, with wide fenders, huge rubber, ginormous brakes, and 8 inch diameter sidepipes...

You know- the way a Chevy-powered Cobra SHOULD be built, hahaha

Hmmm, thinking I know a couple of those...Bad MoFo's they be.
