Anyone use the Cobra as a daily driver???
I was wondering if anybody uses their Cobra as an daily driver? If you do, do you have a hardtop, or some kind of overhead protection from rain or whatever?
I am thinking about purchasing one but I will probably have to use it as a daily driver for a while, that is why I am curious. Thanks :D |
yes, The Cobra can be a daily driver. I do prefer the soft top over the hard top. This is because it can be removed at any time and stored in the trunk. I resently finished a car with A/C and heat making it an all weather car.

I see you are in Phoenix. Where? Gordon is correct you can do one as a daily driver. I agree use a soft-top. I've had mine on the road for 1 year now with over 11,000 miles here in Sunny Phoenix. But call me crazy...no top, no a/c, no heater. Mike |

I am currently looking through the Auto Trader looking for one but I see one's that look a little rough if you know what I am saying :mad: But hopefully I will find one here in a few weeks that will catch my eye. :D |

Daily driver here in Wash DC, except weather extremes. CR soft top & sidewindows offer decent rain & weather resistance, but have to duct tape hood scoop for hard rain. Good heater, and 20 degree days don't bother it, or me. Ice & snow, I leave it home. Could put all weather tires on it, but other idiots can't drive in ice & snow. Why chance it. Way back when my TR-4 was my only car, I drove it in ice & snow. Side window plastic needs to be treated gently below freezing or it will crack.
DC about as bad as Houston for humidity in summer. Next engineering exercise will be A/C for a truly all weather Cobra. If I lived in Phoenix, it wouldn't be optional. |

I drive mine to work everyday that it is sunny. Damn that rain TODAY! Mike tell him about Tuesday nights and Saturday nights! Mike is our President of our local Cobra Club. Just don't get to close, he bites. p.s. Gordon, has the hood hinges come in yet? |
Gordon which kit do you build? I was hoping to find a big block cobra in the Auto trader with a 4 or 5 speed.

rain in the hood scoop????
Do you get a lot of rain into the hood scoop? I have a 5.0 EFI and my buddies Cobra is carb'ed. We had a discussion about rain in the scoop and he does not drive his car far from the house, nor does he drive it in the rain! I will drive mine in the rain. So I want to know if the rain will flood the air filter? My car is ready for paint and I can still plug or fill the mouth on the scoop. Should I????

Don't seal the hood scoop. Use a rain shield. Right now, if it's raining hard, I put duct tape on the inside of the hood scoop.
What I plan to do though is make a rain shield out of aluminum or plastic that will fasten to the inside of the hood scoop with wing nuts. Put it in if its raining, leave it out its not. Need to keep rain out of the air cleaner, and off the distributor cap. |
