I could see why G.M. would I just can"t see why ford would.

twobjshelbys 05-28-2019 06:58 PM

I had to check the date to see if it was April 1.

Armrer 05-28-2019 07:01 PM

Non story.

If these media geniuses predictions had anything to do with reality, I would be calling former President Al Gore and asking him if he thinks President Hillary Clinton will allow the merger to go through.;)

Let's see.

GM gets with Ford, then Toyota gets with VW, then Fiat/Renault gets with whoever else might be game.

Ford won't get with GM, that is a laugh.

And Boeing will never merge with McDonnell Douglas.......never say never.

With the "merger" we could all look forward to more of these ads with both companies being lambasted.

With so much duplicity in products & manufacturing, you probably end up with a company 2/3 the size with the same combined profitability.

Being a veteran running of many business combinations, there is not enough money in the world to deal with the nightmares of downsizing such a combined entity. IIRC, the equity structure of Ford correctly, you'd need the Ford family to agree.

I had to laugh at the notion that GM is "ahead" of Ford on electric vehicles. Although probably true, how many whiffs has GM had at the electric market.

My $0.02 priced for value.

Fantastic!!! A Cobra Kit Car with a GM LS and Corvette suspension is a WAYYYY better car than then the original or even more so a Kit Car trying like heck to be an original!!!

Thor....MY GOD! You just got so many people's panties in a bunch. Sphincters have puckered around the world.

The biggest mistake the Ford family has made since going public in 1956 was not taking the company private when the stock was in the tank some years ago. They did talk with an investment bank about the possibility when the share price was around $1.25.

My mistake was not putting my IRA into Ford stock, I had planned to and was going to sell off enough when it doubled to restock the IRA and ride the rest of the shares. It did hit $14.00 or so so I could have been fat and sassy but my previous market experience made me hesitate. Where is the WAYBAC now Mr. Peabody?

I did not say that a KitCar Cobra with a modern square tube/backbone hybrid frame with Corvette suspension and a nice 5 speed and a modern GM LS engine is more desirable or more valuable than a original genuine Shelby-AC-Ford Cobra from the 1960's . But getting behind the wheel and driving a KitCar Cobra like I described is better every day of the week and twice on Sunday. Comfort, reliability, power, handling ,stopping all far superior. Now let's see how the panties get twisted on that?

(Not trying to stir up any continuation, but a fun memory for the record in all this.)

Reminds me of an article in one of my car magazines in the 70’s or early 80’s. Somehow it got away and I no longer have it, wish I did.

Around the time I was converting my Mustang to a 390 block based FE, I used to relish in this article’s epic quote. It was by a guy named Big Ed, promoting the benefits of the 390 engine.

The quote as I remember it…”Big Ed Says, Iron Men Don’t Wear Bow-Ties!” (I may have added the Big Ed Says part at the time!). It had a great photo of Ed with a look of unwavering determination. Ed was a hero of mine at the time!

In recent years I’ve Googled that old article online to no avail. I would often quote that to my brother and friends in fun! ☺ Brent
