Shelby Racing School 59 bug eye Sprite

If anyone is interested, there is a 59 bugeye Sprite that was one of the three original cars at Carroll Shelby’s racing school. It is a H production race car and the owner says it is a well-known part of Shelby history. It will be going up for auction at Barrett Jackson this Friday afternoon.

Certainly a fun little car to drive. Won't hardly go fast enough to get you into trouble, without really trying. However, there is one now on BAT with a 215 aluminum V8 that would certainly change that situation.

How cool. My brother, me and 2 other brothers campaigned a 59 bug eye sprite and a 64 Triumph Spitfire in SCCA H & G Production back in 65, 66 and 67 at Wilmot Wisc track, Meadowdale, Il and even Road America (I never drove them there.) Never won anything except bills. Even in those days "He who had the most money, won."

I had a 61 sprite. Loved it....pure junk for a motor.
