This is an old picture, and I've since changed the throttle rod and removed the extra return spring, it was overkill. Also I've changed valve covers to Cobra covers.

If you click on the picture you can get a larger pic and can see the detail of the original progressive linkage.

Mike, Iv'e had that one refreshed too many times. It's leaking and I'm having trouble keeping it tuned. Time for something new.. the old three barrel needs a rest.

Nice original linkage John but it’s on backwards. The large hexed part goes through the loop in the end of the rod and it attaches to the primary carb arm.
I’ll post a photo later when I get home to my computer.

John, disregard what I posted, I was having a brain fart!
You have the thick hex in the right location, it's a thin head smaller hexed screw I'm thinking of. It goes on the loop in the linkage rod. I'll still post a photo later! (when my head is screwed on straight!)

You can't see the linkage in this picture but if you have the 1965 "Ford Performance Catalog" there is a very detailed picture on page 33. You'll probably notice I'm very fond of Ivy Green. Four out of my last 5 cars were painted Ivy Green. By the way, this Mustang was a concours winner

Well now that my head's on better, I'll post a couple photo's of the linkage! I'm currently restoring my set of dual Carters and the bits and pieces as used on the Cobra. The setup was a little different than what you could buy over the counter from Ford Performance.
The linkage on the original below shows a shoulder bolt, thin hex head, connecting the primary throttle crank to the secondary throttle crank. Two different sets of holes on the crank can be used to adjust the rate the secondary opens.
Note the linkage and fuel fittings. Dual springs were also used, one on each throttle crank.

On the throttle plate bolt, I found that Chrysler used one either the same or similar on the Hemi dual quad. Took a while but I found one!

This is my restored linkage, ready to install once the carb restoration is finished.

Air cleaners, linkage, and choke are all rare parts now. I have five carburetors (3258S and 3259S) for parts to put everything back to original on two.
Air cleaners are already restored and properly plated. (Chrome tops, zinc screens and bases) More on those at a later date though!

I've always had great luck with Holley's. When I bought my BDR 418cu. in. it had been altered for altitude to a fuel injection system....could not get it to perform in the lower levels so switched back to a 750DP Holley....no problems and runs well.

Thanks guys but the issue is resolved. I got a quick fuel 750 q it was built by Brent Lykins and I looking forward to taking the car out with a new carburetor.

Really, one small distraction while working on my Furd many years ago and I see this???
BTW, this happened way before Phx Mike was around so I'm not admitting to anything.
At least I never parked dead nuts in front of a burnout path like someone did.
