Clutch pedal sleeve needs thicker washer
1 Attachment(s)
Now that I've replaced the clutch pedal sleeve, I've noticed quite a bit of play from side to side. The pic is showing the old sleeve, and it looks tight. Getting the old washers in was a *****. I don't know if I can get a thicker washer in.
The existing washers are brass, I believe, and very thin. Anyone have a recommendation on a new washer, and is there a trick for installation ? |

Trim a thin washer so that it has an open portion, like the distance between two and four on a clock, so that the open portion is just slightly smaller than the diameter of the shaft. Then just grease it up and tap the washer in around the shaft.

Like Patrick said, apply a thin coat of grease to the inside edge of the washer so that it adheres to the fork, that should hold it in place so that you can get the sleeve through.

Try putting a thick washer on one side only.

Maybe a wave washer/spring, cut out a small piece to clear the shaft and side it in w/o taking it apart. the spring tension should help keep it in place. Disclaimer: I haven't tried this but on the Internet I am mechanical enngineer/machinist and knower of all. Disclaimer 2 : First disclaimer is BS I don't know Jack, but the idea might work.
