Still trying to figure out what I get for milage. Hopefully car will be ready. In the shop for fluids change and new slave, belt, hoses, new oil pan and a couple of gaskets. fuel sending unit is next project. Had a fuel cell in it prior and was pulled tp remove the foam and reinstalled. I am assuming they used the same pick up. I get a reading of 1/2 tank when full and 1/4 tank close to empty. I put 15.5 gal. in last fill up trying to push it to see. When the car gets to 1/4 tank or less she will miss under hard acceleration as it is getting full starved. Starts missing under throttle its time to find gas. Just me? Do I need a different pick up. I seen one car with what looked like a fuel reservoir pushed out of the bottom of the tank to just hold fuel and the pick up.

Rob, If you can use it, I have a Camaro gas tank here. Holds 16 gallons. You're welcome to it. It's been reconfigured a bit, but that is easily fixed.

Your fuel gauge sounds like mine and for that matter, most of those that had reported. My recollection is that mine stayed on full until it was somewhere around 3/4 then dropped like a rock. I went by miles driven not by the gauge. I don't know if it will ever be totally accurate.

MKS427 03-30-2023 07:53 AM

redvettx2, I've heard of a special pick up that one of the guys in the club has. I could research that for you, if interested. I do have the same pickup, or lack there of, problem when I'm under 4 gallons left in the tank. I just make it a point to stop for fuel by 150 miles. I do rely on the trip meter rather than the fuel gauge, as well.

Departure information for the new folks....
We will leave the Chevron station at I-17 and Carefree hwy at 9:00 and head up I-17 to the Cordes Junction cut off to Chino Valley, for fuel and cookies... Oh, I forgot, all of our cookie bakers are retired.....so no cookies, only fuel and potty stop. Then on to Seligman for lunch and pick up goodie bags. After that, it seems we usually break into two groups. One group heads back onto I-40 and heads to Kingman while the second group drives in on old Rt. 66. We all meet at the Red Roof Inn in Kingman and the party begins... or something like that. Ask Scotty and Karl, they are the instigators.. and Bob Broberg, and that other guy..

I trust Bob Bro will check this out and correct whatever information I've listed from my addled memory.

Bruce.huling 04-07-2023 09:00 PM

Whee. Found out my childhood chum is staying at red roof too with one of his old muscle cars. Time to catch up!

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-08-2023 07:53 AM

Well, from one addled to another, I have not heard of alternate departure yet. Will likely see Juan tonight and ask.

I just spoke to Denise at the Red Roof Inn, and they still have plenty of rooms. Something's not right with this economy.

Anyway, I'm planning on bringing a small BBQ to cook out in the parking lot both nights. Everyone is welcome. Possibly some libations too !

Bruce.huling 04-20-2023 06:44 AM

Pretty sure Juan posted the west side route on fb.

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-20-2023 08:57 AM

Here is what Juan posted on FB:
RT66 Westside "Alternative" route to Chino Valley.
Hello all,
Just like last year, some of us "Westsiders" are going up to Chino Valley via Wickenburg, Yarnell and Prescott.
We will depart from the Wild Horse Restaurant on Lake Pleasant Pkwy south of Carefree highway (8415 W Carefree Hwy, Peoria), at 0745.
We welcome any of you to join us.
As it turned out, we all met up at the same place in Chino Valley (Safeway).

Has anyone besides Scotty made any plans for dinner for Friday night? Are we going to wing it or is someone going to take the reins and arrange something? Do I need to do it? Do we need a plan?..

Bob Broberg SPF667 460BB 04-20-2023 12:42 PM

Go right ahead Dan. Arranged dinner for all the couples would be great. I'm always single and I love the Arby's RBs & Chocolate Shakes.
Planning on Pizza Hut for Sat PM.
