Sunday 3/5 Bagdad
Depart Chevron @ Carefree Hwy 9AM
Stop in Wickenburg for fuel at Mavrick Go past Bagdad to Hillside, turn around and head back to Wickenburg. Hopefully, make it back in time to Horseshoe Cafe (they lock the doors before 1 typically). If not, Cowboy Cookin' for a late breakfast. Fuel up at Maverick and head home. We should not see temps below the low 50s. |
I wanna drive!
See you Sunday |
I'll meet you at the Chevron @ Carefree Hwy. Time to dust off the cobwebs..... ;-D
|
Ralph, glad to hear that you're going to make it.
|
What is the physical street address of the Chevron in Carefree?
How many miles from Carefree Chevron to Maverick? How many miles from Hillside back to Wickenburg? Thanks! |
3150 W Carefree Hwy, Phoenix, AZ 85086
About to Wickenburg 60 miles. About 65 miles to Hillside and another 65 back to Wickenburg. Mark |
342 miles for me. We got a rocky start because RVNDOC's battery died at the Chevron before we even got going. Of course he'd already driven maybe 60-70 miles just to get there. I used my nifty mini battery jumper go get him going. First time I'd ever tried it and it did OK. After Ralph (RVN) left, we had just 3 Cobras, One Mini, and one nasty GT500 JAFM make the run. (that thing is ferocious) On the fun little twisty-curvy, whoop-de-do road toward Bagdad, Mark was in the lead and didn't get slowed down quite enough when he hit a running wash. Got his feet wet, his windshield wet, his sun glasses wet, and his trunk lid wet. THAT was a rooster tail! The rest of us got slowed in time to not make such a spectacle of ourselves. The sun was not out as much as expected but it was still ever so much better than sitting at home. We did shed a few layers after lunch and it was plenty pleasant.

No pictures it never happened.

First a thank you to Karl for his mini battery jumper to get the car started! Made it home with no issues. Pulled the battery and got a new one that afternoon and at the same time pulled the alternator and had it checked and it is ok.

Ralph, it happens. I had to buy a new battery in Safford during the Coronado Trail Run. Caught up in Morenci. Optima still in car.

Ralph, hope you got a sealed battery this time.

Yep, and a heavier duty one than what was in there.
