Arizona Cobras at Speedworld
Here is a report on our drag results from Speedworld Motorplex last night in the wind.
4 cobras showed up to drag. 3 other cobra owners showed up to watch. We also had cancellations from 2 more. The Speedworld treated us special and gave us our own "line-up lane" so we had next to no waiting like the other 50 cars there. The announcer gave driver name, engine and horsepower, comments, etc. for each cobra. He called Paul's Cobra the fastest in Arizona and Mine was 2nd fastest. Those were his words. I know of 2 that could beat us. They welcomed us with open arms. The Cobras were the center attration. The et and speed are estimates: Paul Gillespie (FFR, stock 5.0) turned about 13.8 and 98mph. Lyle Reinsch (FFR, stock 5.0) turned about 13.3 and 103mph. I (SPF, 468ci) turned about 12.6 and 118mph and catch this: Paul Rambeau (SPF 514ci) went 11.97 and I think 123mph. He was asked to slow down since NHRA requires a roll-cage for under 12 sec. By the way, 2 Vipers there couldn't break 13 sec. Jason, Jack and Bob watched on, Mike and Bill cancelled. We should do this again! Bob |
Sounds like a great time was had by all.
Sorry I missed it. Mom wanted to talk, talk and talk. She only gets here about once every 2 years. Next time. Bob, does this sound like they really want us to come out on Wed. Nights? Mike |
Sounds like a great opportunity for fun. I thought about going out to watch but the wind and the hour 1/2 drive (I live in east, east Mesa) detered me. Do you ever do Firebird on Fridays?
|
Joe,
We cannot do Firebird. Email me for more info. Mike |
Bob,
You can count on me being to one of these when my car is finished-- Engine is installing right now-- Sounds like great fun-- Jim |
