Back from Knotts
All of the traveling AZ Cobra members are back safely from Knotts. The return was uneventful...only 1 mishap on the return trip. Someone spilled a bunch of gas on the ground.
The trip out was a different story. Our pace car...and never let a women lead...speeds over 100 were happening. Any way her car decided to have a fight with the tranny and lost. A stop over at the ford dealership in Indio and a rental car in hand we continued. Bets..was not satisfied .. she went from a SVO Taurus V8 to a tiny Focus... I lost my licence plate as the bracket broke. Fortunatly one of the following cars found it and picked it up. Paul G. Lost his plate. Oh by the way his wife was driving the Taurus. Jerry N sets the world slow speed record for driving to Knotts. He left at 4:30 am, met up with us just the otherside of the California Border. His average speed for time traveled...33 MPH. Radiator cap problems for him. Just past the windmills in we encountered 45 minutes of rain...it's amazing how dry you can be at speed. Enjoyed meeting everyone at knotts seeing old faces and getting to know new ones. On the way home Ginny was in heaven..she bought the red rodster that was there on Sunday. Oh, by the way a Focus will do over 100 MPH. Mike |
Mike, it was a great run! Ride home was too long. Hats off to Stuart, Lysle, Jerry, Paul and you for the long drive and patient L.A. traffic on Rte 91. Jack trailered his FFR and had an accident unloading his baby Sunday morning. Our hearts went out to him. The cold, wet, long trip out was memorable especially traveling with Parnelli Gillespie and his wife Bessy Andretti.
Congrats to Ginny on her new wheels. 1 more trip to L.A. for you abd Ginny, and one more for Paul and Bessy to Indio. Maybe I'll drive next year. GasBoy |
Mike,
On the way home Ginny was in heaven..she bought the red rodster that was there on Sunday. Tell us more, which red rodster? Pictures? Congrats on the new rodster, Ginny!!!! Great seeing you two there. |
Glad everyone made it home safe.
I was there on Saturday and had a great time seeing all the cars. Gotta love that Ultima GTR. I still think that the guy with a cobra body on a VW pan and motor should be shot though. That's just blasphemy!! |
Well, Call the Ford Dealer this morning and they hoped that it might just need a valve body rebuild but it wasn't to be, the tranny is toast. They don't stock SHO trannys so one is being shipped from SF, hopefully the car will be done Thursday. Oh they did approve the tranny though the Extended Service Program. All in all it's not too bad $50.00 for $ 2700.00 tranny.

Paul,
Glad to hear they accepted the tranny under the service protection. It has now paid for itself. Wayne: I always enjoy your company. Good luck on your new build. Hope to see it there next year. here is a pic http://a2.cpimg.com/image/9C/DB/9768...-01F4012C-.jpg XLR80R: The white body next to the cobravolkswagon is going on a FFR frame. It's called the Medusa.
