Polished Aluminum Original Cobra in Phoenix
Mike C.
I Was at Car Show today with Dave Lauper (best in show) with his 55 Big Block Nomad. He tuned my Carburator. His shop has an original all aluminum polished Cobra with a 427 in it. Said its like looking at a crome car. He said it hadn't been run in 10 years and it was their job to start it. Dave described the car as a Beer Can with a big block since some spots were as little at 1/10,000 thick. Couldn't push the car except by bumpers and windshield frame. I told Dave to let the owner know about our club and gave him e-mail address (yours). They did get it started. Bob |
Thanks, Bob
I'll try to get over there during lunch or on the way home. That's B&R automotive right? Mike |

FYI -- Dave's last name is Lowther.

Question: What can you Arizona guys tell me about NOS. I know they just built a slabside 289
that is all polished. I ordered a ken miles racing seat from them. what is their rep? |
Mr. Boni....
Mike K of NOS is a very nice guy. I ordered a set of seats from him for my FFR. Had them modified for my wide butt...Nice job and he personally delivered them to me. He has history with Hi-Tech before they went under. I believe one of their builders/techs. He builds aluminum bodied cars both 289 and 427. The polished slabside I have seen and does it shine. It is built on a shebly frame. The owner wanted Shelby to build him a slabside but all they were building was the 7000 series FIA cars. I heard that Shelby comissioned a slabside body for this customer from Mike. Mike |
thanks Mike! When I come over for Barrett Jackson I may look him up.

Mike is the guy to see. Don't tell anybody, but the roomer is that shelby got the molds from hi-tech for his new csx cobras. So the csx is a replica of a hi-tech. scott

Scott,
I know for a fact that rumor is not true. I have quizzed the guys who built the molds in depth on the how to make them and the processes used. I have seen pictures of the 427 and both 289 molds and plugs being made. :JEKYLHYDE |
