Yet Another Newbie Looking for Cobra
Hello to the Arizona group. Name here is Steve Comstock -- from Scottsdale. I'm wondering if any of the Arizona group knows of any cars for sale in the Phoenix area. I'm just starting to look for one and trying to learn what I can of the vehicle. Seem to be "leaning" toward something like a SPF with a 351W.
My apologies to any and all who may have read this same kind of post over and over. But I gotta start somewhere (wink). Cheers, S |
Come to Hershal's on Saturday. You'll get enough info on Cobras that your head will swim. Looks like there will be between 30 and 40 Cobras there. Look for Mike Canning and introduce yourself to him, he'll be lots of help to you. Remember to bring a chair and an unwrapped toy ( for the Toys for Tots ) on Saturday, our 2nd Annual Arizona Cobra Club party begins at 1:00pm John

Thanks for the info, John. I had read the thread about the party, but unfortunately, will be in Florida (I'm a pilot on a trip) through next Tuesday. Will regret missing this meet -- hope there will be more.
Thanks, Steve |
Cobra Hunter
Steve, your best bet for Cobra Hunting is on Cobra Country
http://www.cobracountry.com/cobra4sl.html Some are in Arizona: such as Greg's B&B: For Sale: '66 Cobra 427SC (B&B Mfg.) with the "Heart and Soul" of an original Cobra. Medium Charcoal Gray Metallic/white stripes and clear coated (it's a new, $5,000 paint job). The engine is a '95 Cobra 'R' 5.8L. There were only 250 built by Jack Rousch for the '95 Cobra 'R' Mustangs. Have all factory documentation. This car is very fast. The engine, paint, Goodrich T/A tires, World Class T-5 transmission have approximately 900 miles on them. Power steering, power disc brakes, all new Auto Meter instrumentation, many suspension enhancements, 9" Ford Posi, MSD ignition, chromed sidepipes and much more. Over $44,000 invested--sacrifice at $34,000. Contact Greg at:gciolek71@worldnet.att.net, or phone Gregg at (623)582-5251 Phoenix, Arizona Or, you can order a new SPF from HillBank Motors : 1-800-SNAKE http://www.superformance.com/dealers_conf.asp?ac=623 I love my SPF, but any Cobra is great. Do your research first. Know what you want. Join us!! Bob Broberg & Babe |
Steve, welcome to the ranks of pilots that are interested in Cobras. Are you with America West ? John
|
Hi John,
No, I fly for Discount Tire Company. We hangar our airplanes out at Scottsdale Airport. Was thinking a nice "roadable" Cobra would be a great way to get to work! Cheers, Steve |
Steve, Get in touch with Bob and / or Mike Canning and they will open the Cobra world to you. There are lots of Cobra owners within 20 miles of you. You can buy a completed one or build it yourself. Mine is a FFR with a fairly stock 1993 Mustang fuel injected 302. I have the Mustang AOD transmission and it's a blast to drive. I have 2,900 miles on it with 80 % of those in the Tucson area. I built mine for relibility, not speed. John

Steve,
John is being a little modest here. He too is a very active Com- Inst pilot and an ATC. Seems there are quite a few of us here that love flying. Chopper is also a pilot but he does the whirlybird routine. :3DSMILE: I think he tests military choppers. I did fly a lot until I sold my plane last year, now I'm just happy to fly around in the GT40.:3DSMILE: If things look good after this year I just might build another plane. Steve, anytime you want to see the cobras do as John says and call Mikie or me and we will try to get together. Hersh:) |
Hersh,
Would love to chat up the aviation stuff, too. Have been flying for a living for 33 years now. However, I don't want to break any rules here on the forum by sliding off the Cobra stuff. ;-) There seems to be some sort of "go-fast-commonality" here between the piloting and driving. Can't wait until I can do the latter... Cheers, Steve |
Hey Steve, don't worry about sliding off topic in this area. This is the Arizona Cobras room and we talk about all kinds of stuff. This site is put together better than any I have seen The owner Brent Mills has made a great effort to give all a place to talk about most anything. If you use the drop down menu at the top you can see the diverse areas of topics. So don't feel any restrictions here on subject as there is a spot I'm sure you will find and fit right in.
Look forward to meeting you, Hersh:) |
Thanks, Hersh. I'm subscribed to several list servers, including several off-highway Land Cruiser lists, but none compare with ClubCobra! This is an awesome list, the depth of which I haven't even scratched, yet. Am having fun, but will have more when I'm home on the high-speed connection so I can view everyone's pics.
Looking forward to a meet with you, too. Do you ever go to the Saturday nite Pavillions thing? Guess I missed you at Good Guys -- Darn! Cheers, Steve |
Hey, Comstock...
Don't let Hersh fool you...That thing he called a plane wasn't. More like a plastic bubble. Sorry you cannot make it Sat. It would have been a good time to meet most of the gang. A couple of the group get tp the Pav on a regular basis. I'll probably be setting up a Pav night for the Barret-Jackson night. Mike |
Hi Mike,
Yeah, I looked at his website and the pics of the plane. Looks like fun, actually, but I'm afraid of heights ;-). Will look for the gang at B-J and at the Pavillions that night. Thanks, Steve |
