Factory 5 roller

I have decided that I want to build a Spec Racer without any doubt. Now I have been toying with the idea of pulling the engine, tranny and NOS out and leaving the suspension, wheels and axle. How much could I get for it as a roller? Just toying with the idea and getting some feedback as to what I might expect to get for a roller? I will be using the engine and tranny in the spec racer anyway.

Depending on the Paint I would guess about 15-18K.

any spec racers in AZ?

15 to 18 for a roller......??????

Yes, there are other spec racers here in AZ. Gordon should be able to tell you more. I only know of 2. They are not setup for the FFR spec racing series.

Mike why the ?????

What do you think for mine as a roller if I keep the engine, transmission, drive shaft, radiator and fan and exhaust set up?

Jason,

The question marks meant that I was guessing on what it might be worth.

My guess is it might be easier to sell the car complete.....Then start fresh.

Just keeping the options open. As for keeping to specs for the Spec Racer races not worried at this point. Would be a couple of years before I could entertain that idea. So I might just go with a supercharger and getting rid of the nitrous and have fun taking it to racing events around here. If I get serious enough and want to travel and race I can take the supercharger off. Hmmm the Explorer could always use one!

I am curious if the MVD will sign off on it if it has the small racing windshield?

Jason, if I were you I would put the car up for sale inact and offer to sell it less the drivetrain at a reduced price. Example:23k complete/18k rolling
I am not suggesting prices, just a marketing strategy.

I am throwing the roller option out there if there is a buyer looking to go with a different drivetrain but doesn't want to build their own. They won't be limited to what is out there. I'll just invite my friend Denver over and we can yank the engine and everything out over the weekend.

Jason,
Tomorrow I'll try and put you in touch with someone who can answer some of your questions... He is currently building a spec racer and has some definite opinions on price and components..
