Loop 101 Watch Your Speed !!!!

For those of you folks who find it necessary to drive the 101 anywhere near Scottsdale and North Phoenix be very aware of your speed.

On my way home last night - from 101 & Chaparral to Tatum, I saw no less than 4 cars pulled over receiving commendations for speed above and beyond the call of duty. Both North and Southbound traffic was getting equal attention.

The DPS is out in force - they were at it again this morning. Some are in unmarked cars just to keep it interesting.

Drive safe

Jeff

Be watching "cops" for a silver Factory 5!

We just got served last night for photo radar back in November....bummer!!!! Not in the Cobra though, the Explorer and not me..... I never speed!

Jason,

What about those 100 MPH trips down Bell Rd.?

That is what Angelina pointed out when I was giving her a hard time about hte speeding ticket. As I pointed out to her and I will to you, if the cop lets you off it doesn't count.

515 tickets in 4 days, holy cow! I make a point to stay out of Scottsdale, they've been throwing people in jail for speeding. I guess DPS & Scottsdale are doing some CYA due to some lawsuits. Kill the ambulance chasing lawyers. DPS is saying there is an increase in accidents in that area of the 101.Well let me see if I can fiqure this out... mmmm... 2 yrs old no freeway, now a freeway with traffic, the numbers can only go up from ZERO, Duh.

mikiec 03-07-2003 02:22 PM

I heard on the news that 2 poeple were stopped for doing over 115MPH. This is a heavily travelled area with others doing 65MPH.

Wasn't me, I only speed late at night with an open road with one cop waiting for me.

I can't imagine doing 115 on a freeway in the middle of the day.

mikiec 03-07-2003 03:28 PM

Jason,

Then you have not experienced keeping up with Betsy on the road to California. In an Escort no less.

Last night at 1:00am a cop passed me doing about 75- I was doing 70 -- He followed a women in an Accord doing probably 80-85 for a long time- then stopped her around Indian Bend- I also saw 1 cop stopped another car on the off ramp-- and 1 cop going south-- They are even out very late and in unmarked cars and trucks- - Watch yourselves--

Jim

Lots of cops and lots of prey

Saw an unmarked black late model Mustang GT with rear deck lights flashing and a marked Highway Patrol car pulling over a car at Bell Rd. and Reems Rd. tonight in Surprise! Scary, ain't it?

Paul Gillespie 03-07-2003 11:34 PM

They all kinds of unmark cars now, not just the Crown Vics, they should at least give a fighting chance this stealth crap isn't fair.

When all else fails hit the gas and become famous! Oh wait that is what you do before you turn 18.

azguy2000 03-09-2003 01:43 AM

Yup,but I still have 3 years until I become famous then!

Jason Lee Nye 03-09-2003 01:50 PM

Of course my disclaimer is that I was only kidding and do not try that at home.

Remind me to tell you when I have time, about when I had three law enforcement agencies involved in chasing me and the road blocks they had set up. The chase involved a span of 30 miles and would have gotten away with it if I had stayed parked and hidden behind that darrn church in Apache Junction.

I was younger and dumber then >>>>>> ok younger

Update

Our motorcycle-equipped men in tan (shouldn't it be blue?) were in stealth mode this morning at the Scottsdale Road exit on both the north and south bound sides of the 101.

They had a radar toting motorcycle officer hidden from view behind the yellow crash barriers. A patrol car gets the honors of pulling you over. They were hidden very well and its not until you are right on top of them that you can see them.

Lucky for me I have been driving the speed limit. Judging by my compadres in traffic - most others have taken the hint. Sadly, the driver of the black Z06 was getting his expensive education this morning. Ouch!

Keep it safe and slow out there.

Jeff

Last week going to the pavillions I got on the 101 at elliot. After blasting the onramp into the triple digits I attempt to drive 65 in the center lane. About 3 miles into my drive I am bring tailgated by a tahoe. So I pick it up a little and go 70. 2 more miles down the road I am being tailgated again. This time by a dodge 4x4 dually. As he passes me in the fast lane, I look up and he is shaking his head and gives me the one finger salute!!! By now im doing 85 and cars are passing me like im standing still. I get off at indian bend, a 20 mile drive not seeing ONE DPS officier. Unbelievable...RR
