Those that have, Those that will

This morning, while taking a drive from Tucson to Phoenix my license plate mounting bracket decided it didn't want to be attached to the Cobra any more. As a result I'm now minus one bracket, one license plate frame and one license plate. Is there someone out there who has a better idea about attaching the plate to the car and not using the factory five beer can material? Monday will start the great adventure with the state of Arizona to get a new plate.

Enzo at www.cobraaccessories.com has several different brackets to mount license plates.

Bill, this is a fairly common problem. The Phoenix guys have experenced it. Mikec and a few others are at Knotts right now. I'm sure that when they get home they will have an answer for you. This happened to one of them last year enroute to Knotts. John

Bill,

I made a new bracket using a piece of 1X1/4 inch aluminum stock. I cut it to length, drilled 2 holes to mount it to the body. Counter sink the holes. The holes for the lic plate I drilled and threaded. Works like a charm. Paul did the same.

The process took about 10 minutes. No more breakage.

The stock came from Home Depot.

John, did not make the trip to Knotts this year. We did however, send 10 Cobras and one GT40 to Knotts.

You could take that second plate which the Arizona MVD sent you and attach it to a new ERA. They have much better license plate retention, even at the higher speeds which the ERAs can attain. :3DSMILE:

New plate and bracket are installed. It will take a weapon of mass destruction to remove it next time.
