Rim BBQ

Who's up for a BBQ Sat. nite June 21 at my cabin in Heber. There is a Best Western 1 mile away. Heber is 2 hours from Shea and Beeline. 1 hour hot to Payson and 1 hour cool to Heber. Let me know who's interested and we can make some motel reservations. Temps up there now are 48 - 85. About 80 degrees @ 6:00 pm. Cars will be safe at my place overnite if you wish.

Jim,
Thank you for the invite. I wish I could come but there are 6 or 7 of us headed to the Spring Fling in Ohio. I know that there are plenty others here that will take advantage of your hopitality.

Mr. Pink, just a reminder, many of the cobra owners who show up at AZ COBRA functions will be in Ohio. I am not going, but am already comitted to a car show locally that night. I certainly would go otherwise. It's always difficult to gather cobras.

Bob, yeah I know. Starting in July the afternoon thunderstorms start. If it doesn't work out we can try some other time.

Mrpink:

Very nice of you to offer. I'm checking the schedules to see if we're free that weekend; I know the better half would love to take a trip to the mountains. By when do you need an answer?

Thanks.

mrpink 05-28-2003 06:57 AM

Chopper, I guess as soon as you can just to make sure you can get a room. I'll call the Best Western up there and see if I can get some special rate for a few rooms. So far just VPR_KLR has confirmed. I'm always up there anyway. Love to have you!

Mrpink:

It turns out the better half has a conference scheduled that weekend in Sedona, so it looks like I'll be solo, if your BBQ is still on. Do you have a number for the Best Western reservation desk at the local motel? I'm looking forward to a nice ride in the "mountains".

mrpink 05-29-2003 04:36 PM

Chopper, It's the Sawmill Inn in Heber. Check Yahoo yellow pages or Best Western Site. Tell them you are AAA. Glad you're coming! I asked 2 days ago and they had rooms. Jaime, are you getting this? Food and drink are on me. Somebody may have to give my wife a ride around the block though.

Damn,

Sounds like you guys will have fun... Sorry I'll miss it. But Ohio calls.

Mrpink:

I guess I was a little too slow. The lady at the Sawmill Inn said they're all booked up for that night. Apparently someone came up and put a block on 34 rooms for that night. I'll keep checking back with them; she said she thinks a couple of the rooms may free up.

mrpink 05-30-2003 01:14 PM

Not to worry. Got 3 rooms reserved at Forest Lakes. 15 miles away. I can cancel within 48 hours so we can keep checking the Sawmill.
Jim

VPR-KLR 05-30-2003 04:47 PM

Jim
Barb and I will take one of those rooms if they are still available.
Jaime

mrpink 05-30-2003 05:13 PM

Of course you will! Forest Lakes is 15 miles away towards Phx. You pass it on the way up. So you would have 15 miles less to go the next morning. I'm still going to keep calling the Sawmill Inn. I think there will be an opening before then.
Jim

mrpink 05-30-2003 05:15 PM

Jaime, have you done any altitude since your fuel fix?

chopper 05-31-2003 01:31 PM

Thanks Jim for honcho-ing this. I will also keep tryin the Sawmill to see if we can squeeze in somehow. They told me there was a weekend camp for autistic children and the folk running that had booked 34 rooms, but the motel folks didn't know if they were going to use all of them or not.

mrpink 05-31-2003 05:51 PM

Chopper glad you're coming! You're locked in down the road and I can cancel up to 48 hours so I'll keep trying them too. If not, you can bunk with the kids.
A splendid time is guaranteed for all.

VPR-KLR 06-12-2003 09:06 PM

Although I have been told I have my head in the clouds, no altitude driving since the fuel leak was fixed. I'll bring my little screw driver if it gets too choppy.

mrpink 06-13-2003 05:08 AM

I hope it's fixed.
Jim
