Karl,
Maybe I and some others can go out the 8th and let you know how the tech inspect goes... Or postpone if others want to wait as well. Others chime in here. October coolness does sound good. I'd be game to go again when you can make it or just wait. I'm getting a little anxious to do something though. October will be OK except for the 29th and 30th, when PASA is running the Firebird West Track. I can't miss that good time. |
Drag Racing huh?
Never tried it before but sounds like fun. Brian, if you teach me what I need to know I would consider transporting your 5 gallons of fuel. Might even throw in some VP 110 for ya. |
Its sounding like more people are showing interest in hitting the strip. Madik, perhaps after you get some more information from Speedworld, if you'd start another thread with "Drag Racing" in the title, even more people would chime in. I think it would be a whole heap-o-fun to get a bunch of Cobras thrashing it out against each other. Maybe the ricer crowd would gain some appreciation what no-tech cubic inches will do.

I will check and start a new thread with info.

Hope those bloody kids in Datsuns stay home..
Hi all,
Sounds like you have a fun day/night ahead of you. At the Calder Raceway just west of Melbourne, they have a monthly Street Meet. Just turn up pay your money. Tech. inspection done your right to go. Datsun 13b's with hairdryers hanging off them. Intercoolers the size of a Kenworth trucks etc. **) Well these bloddy ugly things went out on the track and ran street set ups at 9.4secs. or less. One guy has a set up on his street car and hopes to run the fastest street car. Now that can be daunting when you come up on the track with four times the cubic inches  %/ Again have fun. Just watch those 18 year olds with attitude and tons of tat's, baseball caps back to front, loud stereos and heaps of gold jewellery. Bernie |
I must admit that I get a lot of chuckles over some of the bolt on doodads these young guys use on their cars, but I stopped bagging on them as they are simply the next generation of "car guys." Think about what people said about your ride when you were 19. Oh well, no big wheeny.
I'm looking forward to going out with you guys...keep me posted as to when. Ok, OK I can't help it...how about this visual...a 10 year old Honda Accord, 4 dr, automatic, totally stock except for torched springs slammed to the ground, bouncing down the road causing kidney damage to the occupants, with one of those coffee can mufflers making more noise than the dual 18 in woofers with the rap music... Did we do that??? |
Quote:
Jim, go up to the line. Make both yellow light turn on, talk nice to them. Bring the car up to 12,000 RPM. when you get the green just slip your foot off the clutch, close your eyes and enjoy the ride.... :p :p :p Mad.. keep us informed. Mike |
straight line.....
OK just checked my schedule and WHAT I am on vacation that whole week, Ah nothin to do but go to the track, Golf, sleep! (drag track). Jim we need to hook up for the long ride out there, and yes I will show you everything I know, should take a couple of seconds%/ maybe we can go out to the farmers road and see how our cars launch, don't want to cross any lines!
Will they let you race to the strip exit turn? that would make it more interesting:confused:   Keep it above 100.............. Brian |
Brian,
Is that the week of the 8th you are talking about? |
...Vacation....
Yep I need to get some R&R and get away from work for a short time.:JEKYLHYDE **) :JEKYLHYDE I will be off that whole week, so it looks good to me!

Brian,
September 08... I'll be leaving from Price and Queen Creek Roads when I got off work. We could meet up there and caravan. Also if you're going to test and tune in the Queentucky area let me know. I'd like to come by. After Madik gets back to us on tech passage, maybe we should have Mikiec put that e-mail out and see who else wants to show. |
I'm a new kid on the block as far as Cobra ownership goes.
Here's mine http://jmichael.info/65Cobra.htm I'd like to make a few passes soon with mine so let me know when you guys go to Speedworld some Wednesday evening. I'd like to join in the fun. I'm in Mesa also so it takes awhile to get there, give me some advance notice. HA "Doc" in Mesa, (480) 641-9361 |
Hey old man does that Cobra gooo
:3DSMILE:
Hey JB 34 don't get me wrong. I love these young guys and all. Tons of jewellery, tats, baseball cap on back to front, stereos that you can hear from six blocks away  Sounds like about 50% of the guys who work for me   But then it comes to racing and I get pissed off when they spend under $10,000 on the engine and some other bits and leave me for dead in their Datsun. My parents didn't like the '50's car I first had  Cheers Bernie |
They still call them "Datsun" down there?
Several years ago, Japan Inc. made the move to change their image in the states to a higher level and they dropped the name Datsun. They started calling themselves...Nisson. I guess they thought that was better. Oh well, a rose by any other name... Do you think that if all of us old farts started driving around in souped up ricers, the kids would go retro and build muscle cars? |
Yeah still Datsun. Recently the new Z cars are Nissan branded.
 Still $50,00 too much. Z 240 Bernie |
