Sal,

Where in the Boston area are you from? I grew up in the North Shore area. Saugus.

Hi Sal,

I'm going to B.J.A. Wednesday and Friday only. I'll be at the Russo-Steele Auction nearby Friday and Saturday nights. There are going to be some records broken this year 4 sure. There may be some good buys at the Scottsdale Pavillions on Saturday afternoon. It's gonna get pretty crazy out here. If you and others want to meet up somewhere, let me know.

Been there done that and I'm going again. Its like an overdose on 4 wheels! I look forward to it every year and anytime I can get the wife to willingly attend a car event I take advantage of it.

Larryar is right, lot's of nice cars outside, off subject, one thing that really amazed me about AZ was the complete absence of trees and no green anywhere except for the golf courses, rocks and gray matter all around, I know it's about where you grew up but, no way could I wake up to that everyday.

Mike ,
I actually grew up in a town called Belmont then moved out around the Acton/Stow area about 8 years ago......im familiar with Saugus being that i worked with a few people from there. So what moved you out to Phoenix? The ability to drive the Cobra almost every day of the year

mikiec 01-13-2005 09:52 AM

Sal,

Many years while attending the Cambridge Y summer camp I had a couple of friends, names are long gone, from Belmont. My ex's parents lived in Acton for awhile in the mid 70's.

I've always liked the Acton area.

Uncle Sam dropped me off in Phoenix in 1971. Liked it so well I stayed. Something about no white stuff...

Perry,

Depends on where in the state you go. Yes, the Phoenix area is a desert, but if you go north you can run into this kind of stuff:

This is near the area that over the past 3 years has had over 700,000 acres consumed by fire.

I agree it's all what you are used to.

Hey look, pine trees, some engulfed, some not. Guess I was wrong, You can bet your a$$ if I lived in AZ it would be under some of those pines........

Will be bidding on one item--unfortunately by phone--with the wind chill at -30 below zero (trying to be redundant) in dear old Wisconsin.

Guys,

I have spoken with Sal and helped him make arrangements for flights and hotels for his Phoenix / Barrett Jackson adventure.

He arrives next Tuesday and will be staying through Sunday morning.

His hotel is near Bell road and the 17fwy; I talked him out of the hotel on Van Buren that he found on the internet. He really did not need that kind of room service.

Mike, do you guys still get together on Tuesdays at the Sonic at 59th and Union? If so I can toss Sal into the car and drag him over so he can meet some of the local guys and enjoy some of their fine cuisine.

He will be close enough to Anthem Motors as well in case John has something going on that week, and I told him about Hillbank as well.
