Gel insert for seats
Has anyone tried a gel insert in your seat? It is becoming quite popular with the bike community, I picked up some info at bikeweek yesterday, they were selling quite a lot of them and make them for RV's and truckers.

Ironman,
Obviously you don't have an iron butt. Are you considering silicone or saline implants? Sorry! I just couldn't resist. Actually, I hear the same good stuff about the gel seat inserts from some guys I know who do long trips a lot on their bikes. Cheers! Dave |
I have to redo the seats on my old Contemporary. I was thinking about the "memory" foam used on those real expensive Tempur-Pedic mattresses. Has anyone tried this yet? How did it work?
|
Jockey767, I'd thought about using the memory foam too. We have bed pillows made out of the stuff so I tried sitting on one, on the floor. I was surprised that my boney butt compressed it so much that I could feel the hard floor. I went to an upholstery shop and bought a few square feet of the 4" foam they recommended. It was easy to install and has made a considerable difference from my old padding. Ironman, please post if you do go with the gel.

One of the local Arizona guys has some really comfortable seats. I can't recal his name at the moment, but he let me sit in his car and his seats were great!

Steve,
I have very comfortable seats, they are a Honda transplant. Many have test fitted their rear in my cars and not sure if you have tried mine. Do you remember any details and could it have been my seats you remember? |
Jeff,
It was when we went on the Saguaro Lake run in February. I think his name was Mike, but I can't remember. He told me that he and his wife had taken a 2000 mile road trip in the car with these seats and that they were very comfortable. They are low back seats and they look very similar to the regualr seats. The cost was in the neighborhood of $400. I plan on getting a pair after the summer. http://www.clubcobra.com/forums/arizona-cobras/76881-feb-24th-run.html He is in the 6th picture from the bottom and he has a black Cobra hat on. I think his car is the white with blue stripes with the 76 on the hood. Anyway, very comfortable seats!:3DSMILE: Steve |
I'm pretty sure you are talking about George.
