My "Babe" is Back!
Well, finally, today Jeff Classic and I got my Babe back in one piece and running just great. Spent a week of trial and error and head scratching until we (Jeff) figured out the Distributor gear had ground off part of it's teeth. Just a little on one side, but enough to throw off the timing to never-never land. Took testing everything more than once and I now have new PV, MSD 6AL and harness, Blaster 2 Coil, plugs, Bronze Distributor Gear and have confirmed everything else. Timing seems to be by sound since my timing pointer is no longer in the right place to read the dampener number scale. But, the motor is running just fine. Back to driving!

Good for you Bob. Glad you're up and running.. while you're at it.. why don't you run over on Friday Nov. 9 and meet me and my FRIENDS in Mesa? You might actually have a good time and we can settle this thing about me having friends..

Congrats Bob. Glad you finally go it figured out.

Dan, I have to work that Friday night until 10pm. Sorry, some of us common laborers have nights and weekends to contend with. Have fun.

Darn....That's too bad Bob. I wanted to introduce you to all my friends. I guess it will have to wait..
|
Bob, Did you have a bronze gear originally?
Mike |
No Mike, The original gear was called "heavy duty" but MSD also sells an "melonized" gear which is "harder" then there is the Bronze gear which is used for racing and costs much more $$

Hey I thought the Distributor excuse was my line.....
Bob, just cut to the chase and strip the guts out of the Dizzy and lock it down, then put in full electronic timming module form MSD, program with a Lap top and wala no more problems! Glad you're back! |
Glad you're up and running again Bob....I felt bad for you in Laughlin... Dave
