FS: Ultimate Cobra Race Car
We are more than a little ambivalent about selling, but the car does not get raced anymore and it is just taking up space and money that we need for other projects.
The car was originally built by Gordon Levy in Phoenix as an FFR spec racer with a 347 stroker. We purchased the car ~5 years ago and have slowly modified the car to the point where it is now. Everything on the car has been upgraded and improved over the FFR design. The car was constructed with durability and ease of maintenance in mind. All of the consumables are Stock Car type parts that are robust and cheap to replace. The car was raced quite successfully in NASA Super Unlimited class where I regular competed against and frequently beat cars such as Porsche GT3 cup, Viper Comp Coupe, PTG Speed World Challenge BMW M3, etc. Many race wins and pole positions. The car is ready to race. Note: This is a race car, not a show car. It has some pain chips, it has had various brackets welded on and cut off, etc. The price of the parts alone in this car is more than $65,000 and that is not including any of the custom design and fab work. I don’t think a shop would build you this car for less than $100k. Price: $55k obo, or will negotiate if you just want the roller Contact: claykos@cox.net Location: Tucson, AZ Video Firebird East Course NASA Race PIR 1/7/07 Laptimes: 1:03’s at Phoenix International Raceway (would be in the first few rows for a Rolex GT race) 1:03’s Firebird Main :57’s Firebird East (faster than any non-formula car I know of) 1:49 Cal Speedway (in the damp, and prior to some suspension work) Front Suspension: Custom designed to correct FFR geometry including reduced king pin angle, improved motion ratio, lower roll center and reduced anti dive Custom Coleman Uprights 5x5 Grand National Aluminum Hubs Modified FFR lower control arm Custom upper control arm Ohlins Dbl Adjustable reservoir coilover shocks Speedway Engineering tubular sway bar Huge AP Racing 6 pot NASCAR brakes (pads are 6” long and .8” thick and only $120) 13x1.25 Coleman floating rotors Rear Suspension: Custom underslung chassis Full floating 9 inch rear with camber 5x5 hubs Detroit Tru Trac Diff with 3.55 gear Custom 3 link with bottom of diff mounted Watts linkage Ohlins reservoir shocks Engine/Drivetrain Dart 9.2 height block 374 cu in SBF Dart Heads Solid roller cam All lightweight forged internals and top of the line parts 12.5 compression Dry sump oil system ~20 hrs since complete refresh (rings, bearings, valve springs, etc), refresh was performed at 50 hrs, builder said everything look perfect and he didn’t need to see it for another 100 hrs 640 hp, 520 ft lb tq Extremely Reliable Huge aeromotive fuel pump Jerico 4 spd trans (recently freshened) Tilton 5.5 triple disk clutch with reverse mount starter Body/Aero Body is split under the doors for easy removal Custom carbon fiber front splitter and air dam Custom carbon fiber rear wing Aero mods alone were worth 3.5 secs at PIR Interior/Safety Custom full roll cage Kirkey pro road race seat with halo tied to cage Tilton pedals with remote masters Cockpit brake bias Fuel Safe pro series fuel cell Halon fire system Custom Carbon fiber dash and trans tunnel http://forums.clubracingaz.com/photo...-22-06_001.jpg http://members.cox.net/claykos/NASA-...515%20copy.jpg http://forums.clubracingaz.com/photo..._front_003.jpg http://members.cox.net/claykos/cobra...20(Medium).jpg http://members.cox.net/claykos/IMG_1547%20(Medium).jpg http://members.cox.net/claykos/PIR%2...20(Medium).jpg |
Nice car..........
|
Nice indeed. I wish I was at a stage in my life where I needed a car like that.

Love that 2nd video. Looks like you had a lot of fun "playing catch up" when you got back on the hard stuff after that guy spun out in front of you. Good job!
Glad everyone was OK. Nice car you've got there. :) |
Thanks for all the nice comments!
Now someone buy it! Or tell your friends to buy it! The car is a lightening quick. 0-100 in under 6 seconds, has seen 175 mph at cal speedway....1.6 g's on the brakes.... Half the cost of a new viper comp coupe or similar. |
