So it was Greg S or Greg M.... Glad to hear he is OK. Cars can be fixed, people not so easily.
Greg, Get well quickly. Mike |
It is indeed Greg Melancon's car. Totaled. He got T-boned at Scottsdale and
Shea, spun and hit a lightpost. He got a cut on left leg/knee? But, being a tough, fit guy, he is fine according to Anthem. Car is gone but motor (427R) appears OK. We have 5 SPF with similar color patterns here. I checked up on 3 and needed to confirm with the Gregs. Found out this AM. AZ Bob |
Thanks Bob....

Glad Greg is OK, very sad about the car.
Right down the road from me. |
Mmmm panicked and hit the throttle. Wait until she sees the cost to replace the car..
Good to hear your friend there is not injured. |
Just a point of interest. This is yet another SPF involved in a major accident it appears. I would be interested in knowing how well the occupants would have been protected by the design of the car...It sounded as if the collision occured on the empty passenger side of the car. How would a passenger have faired? Was Greg fully strapped in? Any rollbar and head contact? There was that accident a month or two ago where someone hit a poll and was ejected from his car...And of course Eddy K's accident in #799 not too long ago...I think we all learned something about the SPF rollbar attachment from Eddie's accident.. But I'm so glad to head that injuries were not major...

Another spf bites the dust...........Glad to hear no one was seriously hurt.

I will be over at Anthem Motore next Tuesday. If the wreck is still there I can take a look and a photo or two.

Blas, just in case others are not aware, it should be noted that Eddy K. AND his passanger survived a very nasty roll over, inpart THANKS to the SPF roll bar. Was the bar damaged? Yes, but it was still standing, while the car was totaled! The Occupants walked away. I think the bar did it's job.... |
True, I should have clarified my statement a little more, I was referring to the lack of a bolt on the outside leg of the drivers hoop. Though a light weight rivet was added on later cars to prevent squeaks, a bolt sure looks to be a worthwhile Saturday afternoon project...And yes, the bar did its job admirably...giving its all...Sorry for the confusion about this...%/

Does anybody have any pics of these crashes? It's always interesting to see how the car withstands some carnage.
|
I have seen the photos Greg took right after the accident. It appears he was hit by a BMW on the passenger side and driven sideways into a large brick/concrete pillar. The fact that Greg walked away emphasizes the side to side safety support built into the SPF. Greg had on his 5 point harness and not only survived, he was unharmed. Obviously the frame is sturdy, but the driver must do his share and buckle up all the way. Lets be careful out there.
