Picky-Nicky East Siders
Mikiec sent out a note about meeting at Cave Creek and Carefree at 10am next Saturday, for the ride to the 6th annual picnic. Each car will need a Tonto park pass, that can be purchased at the ranger station at Bartlett Lake, or at lots of other locations. The rangers do check so a pass is recomended. Who, besides me and my sweetie, are going from East Mesa? Shall we hook up to caravan to the north country?

Let's hook up somewhere so that those of us who don't know where we are going and follow you who do know where you are going! Since I am going to be a follower this time, I will defer to the judgement of a more experienced path finder.. How about the Chevron Station at Recker and McDowell around 8:15 for an 8:30 departure?

Avoid Cave Creek Rd from Scottsdale Rd to Air Park. Parade starts 9am. Take Pima north to Carefree Rd then east to Lake. Don't speed.

Don't speed is right! They will get you for sure.
Watch out for rattlesnakes as they are out big :eek:time. Water is up so they are pissed :mad:off.
Saw 4 on my way up to the lake saturday. Group of them were sitting around laughing while hiding out and eating some birds that got too close. They seem like they are dead, lying on the road motionless. As you slow your cobra down to "inspect", their buddies come out behind the rocks and jump in your car.
Going to have another bloody mary for breakfast..

Dave, come on over about 8 and we can go hook up with Danr and whoever else at the Standard station at Recker and McDowell for an 8:30-ish lift off. Don't think we need to try to find the others and get caught up in the parade mess. We can just go up the 101 to the 2nd Pima Rd. exit and take that north to Cave Creek then head east to Bartlett Lake Rd. Think that's the way we went last year.
