Holy Crap It Started!!!

First start time. woohoo.. :)

Started to get a little burned out until today. Awesome feeling.

Had to cut the video down cause it was about 15 minutes long but you get the idea. Next is to get the exhaust done, get the driveshaft lengthened, and it's go-kart time.

And yes I'm running back and forth frantically making sure oil pressure came up.. :)

Congrats Daniel
You will be done before you know it.
Guess I'll have to make another trip to see your progress.

Congrats Dan

It's always a good feeling when something you build actually works. Great video, and sounds good.

That's cool man! Your little girl coming out with her hands over her ears cracked me up.

THat's neat.. A great feeling. After you get it finished, let us know if you go out and check in the garage periodically just to make sure it's still there.. I do..

Thanks a lot guys. I didn't expect it to start on the second crank. Figured it would take a few more. So it kinda scared the crap outta me when she fired up..haha Big thanks to my brother coming out and helping. Had him on fire extinguisher duty just in case. The look on his wife and kids faces were priceless. It is nice to see a years worth of work, plugging away at it pretty much every weekend, and get to this point. Awesome feeling.

That's funny Dan cause I've been doing that since I got the car. I can only imagine it will get worse.. :)

Looks like it's finally coming together. Congrats. Karl will be happy with another Chebby motor car he can bond with.

Will it be ready for the run on the 31st?

We're taking over! When Hersh moved away, the balance shifted a little, but now its back to where it should be. Wouldn't want too many "corrrrrrectly" powered Cobras around, its so much more fun to pick on the Blue Oval boys.

vettestr 01-19-2009 08:49 AM

Glad to hear your engine came to life Daniel. There are a few of us chebbie guys out here and now one more. We either keep the Ford Boys busy shoveling grief or a way for them to get to the parts store. Either way each side usually gives as good as they get. Can't wait to hear her run.

Unfortunately no it won't be. Next is to get the exhaust done. Sticking with a set of J-pipes for now. So got to fab those up. Got to get the drive shaft lengthened a couple inches, yoke is sticking out a little too far for my taste. Lets see what else, seats, lights, blinkers. Lotsa little stuff, I'm sure you know it goes.. :)

Plus the other half has been bugging me about the $$$ so I've toned it down month to month. Maybe I should change the password to the bank account until then.. haha :)

I'm pushing for it to be ready to take down and get registered around March. Either way it'll be ready by next summer, earlier if I can swing it. It'll be in gelcoat but I will take it that way.

The nicest thing about a gelcoat finish is that you still have the pocket full of money a paint job would have cost and the stone chips and dings aren't nearly as painful.

Danr55 01-19-2009 02:16 PM

Karl, I thought the nicest thing about it was that it starts?

Juggernaut 01-20-2009 10:06 AM

Congratulations!

I remember when I first started mine about a year ago, what a feeling!

Enjoy the ride.
