Hey Mike, I use to live and work in Tucson. I am planning to spend winters there in 3 more years. My cobra is all C5 based as well as the new car that I am building now. Hope to be part of both the Vette and Cobra clubs!

Beautiful cars John. Let us know when you get to Tucson. What is that white stuff ? Are those real trees ? John

Mike Brasfield 03-17-2009 08:36 AM

Registration and payment in the mail. I will bring Karl with me, he is on my guest list.

Mike Brasfield 03-19-2009 03:08 PM

Mike----can you confirm receiving my registration and check????? Tuscon John, if reading, did you get your group signed up too? I haven't talked to Karl this week, but as of last week he was coming down with me. Karl........right?

Karl Bebout 03-19-2009 04:37 PM

Mike B. I'm still planning on keeping your passenger seat warm.

John-Tucson 03-19-2009 11:34 PM

Mike, I have just returned from dropping off my registration. The guy was busy and did say that he'd received forms from five Cobras. I have to talk with him tomorrow and I'll ask about yours. Did you put Karl down as a #2 driver or did you put his name on the bottom of the form as a spectator ? If any of the Phoenix guys are retired military and want to attend they can show their ID and get in without any problems. If you want to attend and are not retired military you need to get to me your name, type vechile and it's license plate number by tomorrow, Friday, March 19th. I haver been told that you won't be allowed unto the base if you are not pre-listed. Oh Mike, you MUST wear LONG pants, wear a helmet with a 2000 or newer Snell date, and only CLOSED toe shoes. OK, now what am I forgetting. Oh yes, there will be food to purchase there as well as drinks, water will be provided. The first round of 3 or 4 runs should be over about 2:00 pm. John PS. Have you decided which way that you'll be driving down here ?

Mike Brasfield 03-26-2009 06:34 AM

John....looks like nearly 125 people will be at the event. About half will be driving. The track course looks very interesting and much longer than any previous autocross tracks I've been on. Too bad more of our guys aren't going. This is what our cars were built for. The biggest concern on the corvett guys are rock chips and how to protect their fenders. Guess you and I won't have that problem. Wait...mostly YOU and me. Hope we can embarrass some vet netters.

John-Tucson 03-26-2009 10:48 AM

See you Sunday morning before the tech inspection. John

Mike Brasfield 03-27-2009 06:47 AM

John......Karl and I are going to be there about 7:15ish if we don't get lost. Wait, Karl is my navigator. Better make that 8:15ish!

John-Tucson 03-27-2009 08:58 AM

Is Karl earning a reputation like Mikiec ?

Karl Bebout 03-27-2009 10:07 AM

Where's that coming from? I'm innocent and pure as the driven snow!

SoTxButler 04-02-2009 07:54 PM

So, what happened???????? Lots of chest thumpin going on!!!!!

Results please!!!!!!!!

John-Tucson 04-02-2009 10:07 PM

We did well. There was a cone that was placed in a diffcult position to see and get to so many of us had DNF's. The afternoon group ran the course in reverse and also had a problem with one cone. The good news is that one of the Cobras did actually run the course without a DNF and had a very respectable time. I spoke with the event chairman this evening a nd we will be invited back.

MikeMc71 04-03-2009 01:46 PM

Thanks for coming out Gents, it was a very challenging course, but a heck of a lot of fun! Maybe next time we can paint a white line on the track for you guys!

All kidding aside, we appreciate you guys attending, and showing your beautiful cars. The day went well, except for a few glitches. Like one of the Vette drivers said "If you don't have glitches, it ain't autocrossing"!!

John-Tucson 04-03-2009 06:49 PM

Hi MikeMc71, I spoke with Jim Gray last night and told him of the excellent work that you and Tony Adamo did. A couple of our guys had never autocrossed before and they came away humbled, pumped up,and wanting more. I hope that this event will encourage the other Cobra guys to participate in the future. Thank you for the invite, we hope to see you guys again. John
