Thanks to Mike and Randy.

A BIG Tucson THANKS to Mike and Randy for driving down here for the Corvette / Cobra autocross. Randy brought his attractive wife and his beautiful many hundred horsepower yellow Cobra. Mike briought his partner, Karl. The course was very big with lots of short straights, the Cobras did well enought to get invited back. Those of us who drove in the morning had problems with finding the same cone, it was off-set and required some real head turning. Many of the Corvettes also missed it. The afternoon group drove the same course but backwards, they also found one cone to be a problem. Many DNF's resulted from just the one course deviation. This was the first time in many years that anyone was allowed to race, autocross, on DM AFB.

John, I had a good time and enjoyed watching youse guys thrash your cars. Glad to see that a gaggle of Tucson Cobras showed up if for no other reason than to show the vettesters that there are other people with nifty cars, too.

I believe one of the Cobra's won one or placed in one of the classes. I think it was EXH or invited other than Corvette.

It was a first class set up and run very professionally. Just about 40 cars ran in two flights. Each flight had 3 runs in the AM and then 3 runs in the PM in the opposite direction. The course took just a little over or a little under 1 min. to complete, depending on your skill. There were over 125 people there to help out, work, or drive in the event. All in all it was a really great day and the best thing is that we got to spend some quality time with John, a true gentleman.

Ice Cream John was very convivial but there were a couple isses: He's pretty darn friendly with those Corvette people and he was also telling be about being someplace for a school, and when I asked him if it was for car painting, he thought I was jazzing him. Me?
