New member just purchased a Butler
Hello everyone I just purchased my first Cobra and had a question
It has a 351w Is this just a stock engine I cant seem to find any info on it Any help would be appreciated |
Hello and good luck with your Butler! You would probably have to contact the past owner to get that info. Somebody on here might know of the car, but you would need to tell us the build number.
|
Pics would help a little

1st digit is for the decade c=60's, d=70's, e=80's, and f=90's the second digit is the year. Mine for example is F4 1994. When searching for parts I say I have a 1994 ford f-150 pick-up. Mine is an older crate engine using a 1994 block. Hope that helps |
To elaborate...Even though mine has a cam, has been bored, has aluminum heads, Edlebrock intake and Holley 4 bbl . If I need a thermostat, starter, flywheel etc I go by 94,ford pickup. Spark plugs however are matched by the type of heads I believe. If yours is all stock, I would think going by the year would work for everything you need.

Hi Ron. Welcome to the site and congratulations on purchasing a great brand of Cobra!
I'm looking forward to hearing more details and seeing pictures of the car. |
Welcome Ron. I'm in the middle of restoring an Arntz Cobra...similar to Butler. I happen to reside near you in Corona, Ca. I'd be happy to help with your Cobra. Is it complete, registered, on the road?
|
not registered in Ca yet its a complete car thanks for offer :-)

Hey Ron,
I am a new Cobra owner as well. Mine is a 91 Classic Roadsters with a 351w. I just purchased it and I am going through the registration process. If you need any help or have questions....let me know. Welcome and good luck! Ed |
Hi All,
Can anyone verify if i have a Arntz Cobra or a Butler Cobra? the stamped serial number on the frame rail is 2209759 Trying to figure out this site with the pics yet, just joined. will post More.......... |
Since nobody with more knowledge than me has answered, i will give it a shot.
As far as i know, all Butler Cobras had a number on the left front frame rail that started with BR. Arntz Cobras did not have this and it is hard to tell one from another as far as what year or when it was built. The easiest thing to do is take pictures. The engine compartment is a dead giveaway for a Butler or Arntz, but the interior, pedals, and maybe even the front suspension would also help. |
After talking personally with Ron Butler on the phone he says I have an Arntz not a Butler
|
Ron Butler said his Butlers never came with external trunk or boot hinges
And one leg of my roll bar goes into the seating area inboard passenger seat He said its definitely an Arntz |
Your car has external hood hinges?
|
no the trunk does
