It's a Pretty Tough Car

With the strong frame and thick fiberglass body, it is still running strong after 24 years on the road. It must have more than 200,000 miles on it, now. I am on the fifth engine (406), third transmission (Tremec TKO), and third diff (3.73,with tight LSD). I have lost count of the tires.

My son and I drove it to a Texas Cobra Club meet in Austin in 2001. That was fun!

We have won a number of rallies in this car. One of them was a 15 hour event From LA to Laughlin. That was not easy!

We also ran one rally on a warm spring day when it rained on us for 6 hours. That was ugly!

You should be proud of that service. What a car. I am planning to be in Petaluma in late August to spend a few days with the WSCB group at Infineon raceway.

I can only hope my last as well.

hi everyone
i went and tried to find some sort of number i looked through the vent and saw dust looked on top of the frame saw the same thing. and i know for sure that when i got the car there were no numbers in the cockpit. the stroy of this car it was a airplane mechanic and he needed to sell he had like 3 cobras this was back in 1980 i got the car in 2002 it was a basket there was the running gear no wheels and tires no rollbar there was no dash no interior it was a unfinshed project. there was a soft soft top. the hood scoop was really dorky it looked like a tbird hood scoop and wayed about 50 lbs. the car was red and still is red it was gell coated under the fender the body was complete but the othere stuff was not there. my dad boss the orginal owner had all the paper work but it burnt up in a fire. so this car is a big question on what it is.
thanks jack

Jack, pictures of your car would be really helpful. If the original owner had it before 1980, it's not a Butler and since you didn't find any numbers anywhere, that confirms it. Post some pictures in your gallery, especially of the frame and engine compartment and I can probably give you a good idea of what you have. Contact me directly if it's easier for you to e-mail pictures and I'll give you my e-mail.
