Anti Sway Bars
I have a stock MG 3/4" sway bar that I want to install. In another thread, some of you mentioned mounting in non-stock locations. From what I can tell, mounting forward leaves me nothing but radiator and air for the mounts, but if I go back it would mount nicely to the frame and not hang down to low as to be a clearance issue.
Do you guys see any other issue with using the rear lower a-arm and rearward mounting for a front sway bar? |
I mounted my sway bar to the rear of the suspension on the portion of the frame that angles upward at a 45 degrees from the main frame rails. Have a link on each side going to the rear of the lower control arm. My car has a complete louvered belly pan, so this keeps the sway bar mounts off the bottom of the frame.

I was at Photoguy's yesterday and the hand-drawn diagram he received from Ron Butler shows the sway bar mounting points "behind" the differential, up midway on the angled portion of the frame. Same as described above... It caught my eye because of the very different way it mounts. He'll be installing his too in a couple of weeks. If you want to email him, he might be able to get you a copy of the diagram. Duane |
To clarify, I am referring to the front sway bar (I thought the radiator reference would be a clue). :LOL:
Although I have also looked at what it would take for the rear - current focus is on the front. After having the Jag brought back to spec. and adding the Aldan shocks, the shortfall of the MG front is very pronounced. |

Is this your pic? I believe you sent it a while back when I was looking at other modifications. If so, it looks like the same location I am looking at. I see that when you attached the link to the wishbone arm, you went on the inside and drilled a hole in the spring pan - was there a clearance issue? |
That is my setup. No clearance problems as yet.

Let me rephrase - why did you choose to route the link through the spring pan? By the way, if I did not tell you before, what a great looking build - it is obvious you were doing things right. |
