And another thought, with teh Aussie dollar getting better, the options to buy one from the States and import it into Australia is becoming more atractive.
But if doing this then you need to be sure it is titled as 1966 or 1967 etc, as there is a cut off point where an older vehicle is not allowed to remain left hand drive in OZ (30 years I think)
But before looking down this route be sure to talk to your local registration authorities and get your answers in writting.

This one looks like it might go a for a steel. I would say that its most likely been totally thrashed and would want a complete rebuild.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/1998-AC-COBRA...d=p3286.c0.m14

also there is another on ebay thats a deceased estate. Looks tidy and its cheap.

LGC67 if you'r going to build one. Find a good local signatory engineer FIRST and let him tell what is right and wrong. It'll save you a lot of grief in the future.

That X renter looks interesting .Too bad the auction finishes tomorrow .I would like to check it out.. I'll go looking on EBAY for the deceased estate unit .Thanks for that Zedn

If you're not into building a car particularly and want to buy a "pre-loved" example, there are two that I know of that you'd be very happy with:

1) Spookypt's black Harrison powered by a strong Lexus motor. Absolutely stunning car, looks and sounds wonderful.

2) Phil Neall's Chev powered CR. Super quick, proven performer. The Classic Revival kits are highly regarded, and this particular car is a standout at the Nationals every year.

They're both black and neither has the Ford power you're leaning towards but they are both terrific cars, complete, proven, registered and ready to go. Good luck trying to choose between them!

Thanks for the info . It's a funny thing, but I would almost feel more comfortable with a Lexus than a Bowtie . JAP over Yank .Old habits die hard .......... As the Mustang blokes say "Hoof beats are louder than heartbeats"

After giving it some thought ,I'm leaning towards something that's been started but the owner has ,for what ever reason ,decide not to finish it . Is that likely ?

spookypt 10-10-2009 04:49 AM

Mines a work in progress... I still haven't finished it...Lol

Time for someone else to! Goes into Uniqu Cars November edition..

I have a new project on the way..so it's time to go... I have a 2 car garage and have 5 cars and 2 trailers.... Somethings gotto go!

Holy mackeral .........are you talking about that race car ...........thats too much car for me :3DSMILE:

Spook - what is this Project you hint about every so often.

I'm down your way in a couple of weeks time to soak up the noise!;)

I'll call in and pry open those garage doors to see for myself:rolleyes:

Good luck LGC in finding a 2nd hand Cobra for sale (if thats the way you eventually go).

Most Cobra's are for sale (for the right price - mine included), but I doubt you'll find a "reputable" one for less than $50k.

My choice buying one in QLD - A Harrison - looks a bigger car than a DRB and the back end (from the side) looks more in proportion

Old School - RMC

Ask Les - his car is as old as him (and still hasn't been painted).

Thats the only reeason I'm keeping mine - waiting for Les to finish his and then cross the Pelican Bridge in tandem**)**)

Keep searching!

holy snapping duck SH1T ......thats a STREET CAR. The race car must be something then !!

PCC 10-11-2009 02:59 AM

LGC,

Its pretty easy - the street car has bling as Spook resides on the Gold Coast and has to compete with the local Ricers!

Spook,

Purchasing from the states - maybe a Shelby GT350 leaving you enough to have a nice round the world trip for say 12 months???

Or maybe something a little bit pricier, say a barn find Ferrari or Lambo just waiting for some of that Spook polish;)

I got mine as an abandoned build, they come up fairly regularly - mostly with gear that will not pass compliance because - for one reason or another - the build has taken longer than anticipated and the owner/seller does not have the warewithal to see it through under changed conditions.

Generally the sales literature will assure many things %/

- do your sums.

Keep trying Pete!! I'm not confirming nor denying anything until what I want to happen..happens!!!!

Having said that Tin Tops aren't my thing so a a GT350 isn't on the shopping list!
