Garage Update # 7

Guy's,

The brickies have done their work. Just waaiting for the pillars to dry, they will be filled Thursday and allowed to dry.

The metal is next, I hope the crane can make it down the side of the house:cool:

Rear Area

I am not sure what to do with the rear area, it will be about 2.5 meters from the boundary to the back of the garage. I am putting water tanks, compressor and some storage. Not sure if the BBQ will be OK there,,,

Looks great. You are really making progress now.

.. if the crane cannot make it down the driveway you may need to put a few beers on to get some friends there to carry the beams down the driveway.

Sounds hard, but if you are using RSJ beams - "I' beams they are rated at kilo's per metre - 75 is 75 kilos per metre. It is not hard to carry them into position with 8 or 10 mates..%/.

I put the 8 metre 'I' beam in with four mates.

Making great progress looking forward to seeing more photos. Ring if you need help with the beams I'm in Geelong.

Looking good Stiffy

I'm guessing you'll pave the back area. I think the space might get a bit tight for larger gatherings (can alway move the barbie) but with a bit of lean-to (?) and screening off the storage/compressor it could be a neat little nook :)

As with BMK - gimmie a buzz if you need a lift (I'm much closer - but not quite Brighton)

Really enjoying the progress pics

Crane

BKM,

The crane wanker wouldn't drive his truck down the driveway:mad:

He said he would get bogged.... the builder drove from Warragul (2 hours) to assist in the fitting, he instead dumped them at the side of the house:mad:

So its another delay, more cost (there goes the Christmas Party Funds :().

We are attempting to hire a scizzor lift when the brickies are there on Friday to lift them into place so we can use their muscle.

They work out at 60kg's per meter 60 x 5.6m = 336kg's about the fat content of the new Grand Angus Burger from Macca's.

Now if you are going to say those sort of things - put them up your self..

Ring me and I'll head over. Anything for a drive. The 60 RSJ's are not hard to lift.

You will need four of us, they are easy to carry and lift into place. The one here was 15 kg per metre heavier and 8 metres long and it took four of us without any problem.

Looking good though...%/
