Where are those headers from Ben? Interesting shape for the main runner (collector).

Lookin great!

Stiffy - wedding, honeymoon, bills to pay! Things are moving again on the Cobra front which is the main thing. :)

Beejay 04-21-2010 04:39 AM

Sambo,

I think they are made that way to make room, rather than power. The water jackets take up a bit of room on the outside.

These headers were made by Rolco, they seem to be the biggest in boat engine conversion parts.
Cheers,

Ben

Seems pretty quiet in here so I thought it was a good time to put in an update on the boat.

Almost there, hoping for first run in the water on xmas day.

I am reminded of the movie, "The Castle" where the lead character gunning the power boat on the lake says, "just listen to the serenity...." (or similar).

Ben, enjoy your time on the water. I'm sure that with all the water in Vic this year I will have a great time. I think my boat might fit inside your new toy!

Beejay 12-21-2010 02:17 AM

That's tiny!

What is in it?

Ben

Looks like one of those jet sprint boats without the roll cage. Cool

letsboogie351 12-21-2010 03:29 PM

Ben
Mike is right it is a jet sprint hull that has been modded to fit a rear lounge in. it is a 14 foot tinny with 351C and a 3 stage jet drive.
Stay safe on the water

cheers
Doug

You just got to love that quote. :) Doug that is very nice.

Ben, looking really good. What a great xmas present if you get it out on the water this weekend.

Aussie Mike 12-21-2010 10:56 PM

I've often toyed with the idea of transplanting the motor and jet from a large Jet Ski into a 10 foot tinny. I reckon it'd be just the ticket for running up and down the Goulburn river, never having to worry about snagging your prop on a submerged tree trunk etc. It'd go pretty well too.

There's regularly beat up old jet skis on eBay for a few hundred dollars.

Cheers

Keeping it IN the water would seem to be the problem. Lots of power there Ben.

Beejay 12-22-2010 04:33 AM

Cheers guys.

No speed limits on the water where we are :3DSMILE:

It's a boat ! Like a plane... when it breaks down you can't just get out and and walk away to get help. The plane is a bit more intense....but you have to take the thing to the water then have fun then take it home and wash it so it don't rot. I'd rather a nice nasty car. I'm scared of the water !
Ha ha ha
Only joking...don't get ****ty.

letsboogie351 12-27-2010 02:03 PM

Ben
Christmas day has come and gone. Did you manage to get the "New Toy" on to the water? How does it handle? That motor should push it along nice 'n" quickly.

A friend of mine has had a couple of flat bottom tinnys with jets for getting into swamps ect when duck shooting.
The last one had a Subaru flat 4 powering it!

Beejay 12-28-2010 11:35 PM

A few teething problems, but all go! A popped manifold welsh plug put an end to the party.

Will be back out to the river on Friday with a couple of small things fixed to see what it will do!
