Thanks Kevin. Mine just arrived from Summit and I hope to fit them on the weekend.

I am sure you will be pleased Paul. I ordered my rears (DD 501s) today. I was going to get the 12" springs but Craig and Muzza advised that the 10" was the go with a small machined spacer at the top of the shock. Otherwise the lower adjustment collars can foul with the tie rod end.

Keeper springs

Does anyone know where these keeper springs/packer springs are available in Australia?

I have nothing to compare to but I think they do a decent job and appear to be well made.

If you search this forum (the US side) I have read few stories of issues with the Aldan shocks leaking.

I have the same setup, mine came from kings springs

sambo 10-16-2011 09:52 PM

Merv, did you get those spigots machined up with those "collars" (below) or can you buy them to suit? I've been looking to redo mine as they were hand cut from stainless tube and they're a bit rough.

Paul those spigots are part of the QA shocks. They are extremely hard! Thanks Dave I will call king springs.

Merv and Sharon 10-16-2011 11:02 PM

Dave those are the tender springs from Kings? Where they 70 x 65 @ 70lb? Can't get on to them yet but GSA Wholesale can get them for $80.00 each. Seems steep, given that the mainsprings (QA1) only cost $37.

I dont have the original reciepts anymore, but I ordered main springs, spring helpers, alloy spacer cup, and Spax shocks from Kings back in about 2004, cost all up was $1k.

I have now fitted AVO shocks, and had to machine the inside of the alloy spacers out an extra 1.5mm to allow them to slide over that shock housing.

I found an agent on the Sunshine Coast and they can get them from Kings. They are not cheap - more than double the price of the normal spring.

Tenrocca 10-17-2011 05:24 AM

Merv - sent you a PM, but I seem to remember the keeper springs being more costly than the main when I got them too. Maybe they are a special item - to stay compressed for 99.999999999999999999% of their life and still "spring" - might mean they are a bit of black magic?

sambo 10-17-2011 03:13 PM

Merv I think you've placed washers on either side. That's what I took as being spigots - correct me if I'm wrong?

Merv and Sharon 10-17-2011 03:48 PM

Yes Paul. There are some hi tensile washers either side of the spiggots. The shaft is 1/2 inch, not 12 mm.

Many thanks for your help Andrew. I have sent PM back. Hopefully the parts will be here today.

sambo 10-17-2011 05:27 PM

Edit - double post

Merv and Sharon 10-17-2011 08:18 PM

Paul - the spigots are the shafts either side of the teflon bearing. The washers are just there for spacing.
