Classic Revival front bushes

Hi All
As my Classic revival is now on the road I have now found that my new front end bushes have fallen appart and need to be replaced as some are completely gone after just 10kms.
What are the best bushes to get for the Jag front end?

Rob. Smith 01-17-2010 03:25 AM

Alfie did you assemble the jag ones correctly ? Relpacing these will cost a bit....Nolathane make replacement bushes. I can't comment on them as I haven't used them ....yet.

alffie, I'm sure some-one will disagree but I don't believe you can beat the standard Jag bushes.

They're made for a 4500lb car so are more than adequate for a 2500lb cobra.

Chat to Brian Wheeler here : http://www.jagdaim.com.au

They can give you the RIGHT advice be it either urethane or standard bushes.

I got mine from these guys.

I phoned them and they were really helpful. They said the nolothan dont last and just tear. They recommended standard Jag or they also sell aftermarket rubber ones that are meant to be better than Nolothane.

I bought a rolling Chassis so all the suspension was together when I picked up the kit. The bushes in it are blue and look like Urethane, and just broken up and fallen out.

Alffie, were the rubbers well greased?

Regards.

Blue ones are definatly urethane, If they where put in dry then they will tear apart very quickly.

I have the same blue ones in mine, I have done 1600kls so far and not a problem in my front end.

Although as others have mentioned, I will be replacing with genuine rubber bushes when time comes to replace them.

I have the blue bushes fitted - 8500 Kms no problems.

Sounds like you should get the suspension checked out locally Alffie.

Alffie,

Rubber Vs Urethane is a personal preference, both have there advantages and disadvantages.

I had the alternative rubber bushes (not OEM) in mine and only lasted two years with only a couple nationals and shelbyfests done. I should have bought OEM rubber bushes for a better comparison. I have now gone to urethane.

Properly installed urethane, greased properly will last as long and as well as rubber. The beauty of urethane is you can pull apart and re grease when you want. I bought a set of mid softness urethane bushes (Black) from prestige spares and have been great. I think Lovells suspension (blue urethane) have a wider range of softness options and might be worth a phone call or look up their website. I have found more positive steering and no noticeable harshness increase in the front end since going urethane.

Good luck.

Cheers Tony

I've got new OEM rubbers in mine. Great for the street. Have had no problems in 10,000kms. I can't comment on urethane, never tried them. The advice at the time was to use OEM.

Cheers
Al
