I rang them and they do not build boats (or cars) they are an agent for a US supplier.

So Oz, or anyone else, can I get some leads on how to contact the supplier?
I will keep searching but not much is coming up in Google.

Not sure of the StyleCraft origin at the time ...as I said was 15 going on 20 yrs ago, although your reference to a
boat builder or car/custom rings true for some reason as they weren't a recognised builder at that time!!sorry can't help any further than that!!:o

Hi I looked at one similar a while ago and it looks to me that it could be the same. The one I looked at was made by Laurie Bongalis ( spelling ? ) in Melbourne.
Cheers Damo

Nope, totally different to the RCM that Laurie makes (i have one). Mine has no rear lip, fuel filler on drivers side, contour line under windscreen, chassis is a different shape and has holes for exhaust through it. Also fire wall is different and the shape of the corner of the dash where it meets the door (where mirrors go) is curved on RCM.

I heard the RCM is taken from an Arntz (not 100% sure) so that leads me to think it isnt Arntz either.

Would it not be a simple Question:p to put to the crew whom frequent the Arnzt Butler forum on here to yay or nay the Arnzt Question ??? From here I'd say it's not Arnzt!!

Did you get to the bottom of this?

Is there such a replica as Boomerang?

boxhead 01-30-2010 06:29 PM

Not yet, I still can not find "stylecraft" either Cobra or boat builders.

Definetly NOT an Artnz.

Soul.

jcraigau, there are 2 boomerang cars on the WA website under members cars. Brad T and Dave & Jesse K both listed as Boomerangs, but they don't appear to have the lip on the rear of the cockpit and filler is on the right.http://members.powerdsl.com.au/~tforder/dave_k_page.htm

David Hodgson 01-31-2010 07:56 PM

Autostyling?

There was a kit in the early '80s out of WA called Autostyling, I think have a brochure - I'll have a look. A guy here in Canberra had a Autostyling body kit, I think it had the lip on the rear edge of the cockpit, but I don't recall the tub and firewall arrangement.
A guy call Jim (surname escapes me at the minute) was awarded best Cobra at the inaugural Nationals at Mildura in '94 with what we all decided was an Autostyling, and I recall his fire wall was similar. Should have some pic's of his car.

boxhead 01-31-2010 08:05 PM

Thanks for the links David, You are right the Boomerang does look different, looks like no lip and the fuel filler appears to be in the centre of rear turrent.
Also the car pictured is listed as having a Toyota Chassis, the car I have located requires a specific chassis (raised sections in floor)

Any pics you have David would be appreciated.

boxhead 01-31-2010 08:08 PM

Hey there Soulman, yes it is looking unlikely to be an ARNTZ.
For some reason I thought I had read that they had a lip around the back of cabin, and this being the only time I have heard of that made me wonder if that was its maker?

Thanks for the input, as the owner of one it helps to eliminate it. (I think your black one was ARNTZ?)

David Hodgson 01-31-2010 08:08 PM

That's a good point Dave, I recall the Autostyling was specific to Crown chassis.

jcraigau 01-31-2010 08:25 PM

So that's another one crossed off the list, the search continues...

Baz 01-31-2010 11:00 PM

This thread ended up being almost as big as the 'Pool Room'.

jcraigau 01-31-2010 11:22 PM

and we're still no closer!

boxhead 01-31-2010 11:26 PM

It is an odd ball, and all help is appreciated.

So does anyone want it?

Zedn 02-01-2010 02:39 AM

what about RC cars? I have never seen one, but they were an old company that shut down many years ago.

:LOL::LOL::LOL:...This will amuse some..:p...It's a thread of it's own!!

ac andy 02-05-2010 03:06 AM

Its definately not an RC, the RCs were similiar to Lauries cars. Mine is an RC and is nothing at all like this one in the photos.

Andy.

jcraigau 02-16-2010 11:46 PM

There is a "kit" on eBay at the moment that has the description:
"AC Cobra Project car, excellent start to create your own unique AC. AMC or Australian Mada Cobra existed in the ealy '90s and built only a handful of cars.
They body was constructed as a joint venture with Perry Catarmarans on the Gold Coast and is of marine grade quality, and is still in perfect condition to this day.
All parts and fitting are available through various Cobra kit manufacturers around Australia."

From the pics it seems to have a raised ridge at the back.
