Need a Cobra measurement
A bit of a strange request, but I am evaluating the possibility of adding a hoist to what is looking like a definite garage extension. Would someone be so kind as to take a vertical measurement for me from the bottom of the body sill to the top of the windscreen frame?

G'Day Modena, I've got a garage with 8' high trusses and I've got a hoist as well. My car measures 45" or 1.15 m roughly from tyre base to windscreen top. With my car raised to within 4" from the fluro light fitting. I have approx 1 metre under the vehicle at the tyre bottoms....so I have a bit more room under the car. I have a little pneumatic seat on wheels ( bought at any cheap shop / auto accessory store) that I wizz around on under the car. I also intend to rebuild the shed ...I will build a steel one without trusses...this will give me another 3 feet, 1 metre at least. There is also another idea in the plan to raise the roof above the four post hoist. This will give more lift again.

thank Rob. I also am thinking of raising a section of ceiling by 1-2 feet. I am extending the double garage by 3 meters rearward, and was looking at one of these:

a "normal" two-poster would be ideal, but I am going to have to park the cobra across the garage at the back as we have two everyday cars in the garage at the front, so cant have a hoist in the way, hence the infloor option is about all that is open to me.
If I cant have 1.8m under the underside of the car then I really don't think its worth it - I can see the wheely chair idea, but isnt it a pain? I mean the real value in the hoist is access to trans, diff, etc - all the heavy stuff which you need clearance to get in and out? |

My FFR is 39" (99cm) from the bottom of the body to the top of the windshield. |

Tecalemit made the original grease guns for the Cobra, I would go with them :-)

Check with PhilM, he modified the ceiling in his garage to suit the Cobra.

I recently pulled the tremec gearbox out to do clutch mods and all I did was to put a couple of wooden (2x4) beams across the hoist ramps with a trolley jack under the box and dropped the transmission down. It stayed there until I had done the mods. I could have dropped the hoist and let the whole thing sit on the floor by moving the 2x4s but It was easier to leave it there. As for the low height. I intend to remedy that with raising the truss-less roof. I really like the scissor lift set up especially how it drops to floor level. I remeasured my car and it is roughly 35" from sill to w/screen top (RMC) The hoist height right now is 1.2 mtrs from the floor to the cars' sill.
