Some Alpine run pics
Some pictures from this weekend's Alpine run. Enjoy
A hot rod show we stumbled upon in Myrtleford all as a result of Terry's careful route planning. http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...IMGP1389-1.jpg Nice ford, and I even like the colour! http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1392.jpg Preparing to leave "afternoon" Smoko http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1402.jpg Hotham heights and Bazza's pressure regulator repair stop http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1414.jpg No explanation needed! But MR Baldy to you! And Graham had buggered off by then too!! http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1417.jpg Mt Hotham Big D pub line up. http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1424.jpg The New Age in Omeo bursting at the seems with hordes of bikes as well http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1426.jpg Strattford brekkie set line up http://i564.photobucket.com/albums/s...0/IMGP1431.jpg A great weekend and many thanks to Terry for his organisation of this run yet again. Also rumour has it Terry's out to buy some new rear tyres shortly. Cheers |
Thanks for those shots Stephen

Thanks for the pics Steve. Looking at the BOM website I was expecting a few shots to show some mean clouds in the background but it appears you missed the terrible weather we had in Melb on the weekend. I've never done the Alpine Rd from start to finish but its gotta be an awesome drive. The drive from Bright to Mt Hotham is breathtaking and it would be even better in an open top V8 car with non restrictive exhausts bouncing off the mountain side. :)

Didin't take pics on the Sunday which was the nasty day. And it did rain late arvo Friday for our drive up. Yes the spirited drive up the hill was fun and following Jeremy I could tell when he was stomping the right foot. That new boat exhaust did bellow. I'm told it rained buckets early Sunday morning but I didn't hear a thing. Must have been something I drank. And Sunday morning started with the clouds just off the deck in Omeo and the drive through the twists and turns down to Bairnsdale did see one very low speed loose that could have easily ended in tears. Fortunately for all it didn't, had a good foot to spare!! Post lunch it was raining so hard driving back to Bairnsdale that the cobras were down to 80kph and I think most pasengers were bailing furiously. The chuxs and chamois were flying too. This was when I was really happy to be in my Bro's Merc. And Monday was a great morning's drive so we really only had the one bad day. Some looneys still drove Sunday without tops up so that was dedication. Cheers |
Slowy are you calling Stiffy a loney?

Was he one too? It was Jason and Judy taking off after lunch in the downpour that intrigued me.
I know speed keeps most of the rain out but over time misted water sucking back into the cockpit is going to saturate you in that sort of rain. Just contemplating what I've got to look forward to. Had been considering the value of an aftermarket A/C for the demisting effort. Will depend on how often I do wet weather driving I guess. |
I liken a Cobra to a four wheeled motor bike. I've been caught in the rain a few times but they were relatively short drives. Still you get thumbs up from everyone and it makes them smile. Makes me smile too when I've got drenched. But I haven;t been cold and wet yet.
I don't plan to put a roof on the machine. I might get a semi roof that will get you out of trouble but if it's gonna rain I'll take a tin top. |
Daytona
NASSTY,
Thats why they invented the Daytona////// :eek: The rain is OK so long as its not cold and you like the smell of wet dog for the next couple of days.:D:D I didn;t take many pic's of the run, too busy with shaggers back..:p STIFFY |
