help please ford xe xf front suspension
I am hoping someone has a solution to the problem I am facing. I have Ford XE front upper and lower control arms and stub axle, the steering rack arms are not parallell with the lower control arms therefore creating too much bump steer. I can not modify the stub axle as it is cast. I can not lower the steering rack without cutting the chassis, which obviuosly I don't want to do. Does anyone know of any obvious solution or not so obvious.

Some ideas here:- http://www.rebelracingproducts.com/S.../Steering.html

Some pics would be great, but can you possably fit a rose joint as opposed to tie rod end?
Also if it needs to be a whole lot lower will a rose joint below the stub axle connection work? If rose joint is answer you can drill out the stub axle mount to accept a standard bolt and nut? |
My kit uses XF front axles with TE Cortina controls arms,
Dont know anything about suspension geometry at all but this may provide possible options for adjustment. There are photos in my gallery if it helps. Regards - Hogster |
hi thanks for the input. I have to raise the tie rod ends to bring the steering arms as close to parallell with the control arms to minimise bump steer. I am thinking of heating the cast steel stub axel and bending the tie rod connection point about 20mm upwards. Is this a very bad idea trying to heat and bend cast steel?
