I think the difference in the graphs may be due to me doing the measurements with 0 toe at ride height. That graph is also the one for Mando's 2" shorter arms. I've got the full length arms graph here somewhere.
I measured mine with 2 dial indicators and a board bolted to the wheel flange. I moved the suspension in 10mm increments and then took the difference between the 2 dial indicator readings. The dial indicators were 600mm apart which is the approximate OD of the tyre. Being able to shim the pivot point up and down is definitely an advantage. I just worry about the extra leverage loads on a 1/2" bolt. I'd make sure the spacer you use has a wide enough base so that it transfers the loads from a bending load to a torsional load. Cheers |
I need to track down my graphs - think they are on another computer somewhere. The difference wasnt huge Mike from what I remember - both showed a very similar trend and a huge improvement over the stock location. I am thinking though with the camber issue I have maybe my chassis is a little different - and that might affect the numbers a bit.
Ill see if I can take a pic of mine tonight and track down my graph. I did use as large a spacer as I could fit on the toe arm - 32mm I think, and milled the bottom. All still feels rock solid after 2000 unregistered km's :) |
Andrew, since lowering my car the most positive I could adjust to on rear camber was 1 1/4 degree negative.

Hi,
You guys have got me wondering what my chassis is like, given I have the VE Commodore Rear end. Mine "feels" like it handles ok and under heavy braking and accel seems to track well. Have any of you got any pics of your measurement setup? If its a simple thing I'd like to give it a shot to see if Ian has fixed it in the later chass/rear end combo. Thanks Rgds Gregg |
Thanks Phil,
Just need to work out if it is springs or shocks on rear, suspect springs but not much left in shock either. Andrew & Mike, Thanks for the info, trying to get my empty head around it but I will get there. Mike, after you get settled, I will give you a call, by then you will have a full CNC workshop going. Stuart, Have put Eibachs on the front and very happy. The part # is ERS-H-200-60-0060. Could maybe have gone slightly softer. You may have different setup. Thanks all. |
Hi Mike
Do you have any kits made? How will it take to make up a kit? I have the same problem you did, my LH tyre rubs on the inner body, I have 22mm clearance at ride hight but obviously none when it compresses, The RH side has about 35mm clearance from the inner body so doesnt rub. Theres guy in the states that makes a 9 inch conversion for the GTO so Iam looking at maybe putting in a commodore rear and using the 9inch conversion. |
